Ending the year in style, more than 1,900 heavy equipment items and trucks were sold at Ritchie Bros.’ final Dubai auction of 2018 on December 11 & 12. Bidders from all over the world joined to bid in person and online on excavators, dump trucks, cranes, wheel loaders and more. All items were sold to the highest bidders without minimum or reserve prices.
After spotting desirable items on the Ritchie Bros. website, bidders were able to come over to the Dubai yard and personally inspect and compare items during the viewing days. On the auction days, all items were sold one after the other. Some of the highlights of the auction included:
• A 2010 Caterpillar D9R CTR that sold for $175,000
• A 2015 Caterpillar 140K MGR that sold for $122,500
• A 2014 Sany STC500S HTC that sold for $107,500
• A Liebherr HS895HD CRD that sold for $270,000
• A 2016 Caterpillar 349D2L HEX that sold for $225,000
Ritchie Bros. auctions are known for their international buyer base. In the December Dubai auction, more than 980+ bidders from 72 countries joined, including from Middle East, Europe, Asia, Australia and North America. More than 50% of the total value of lots sold was purchased by buyers outside of the UAE. Onsite participation was strong compared to online, 76% was purchased by bidders joining in person at the auction site.
