JLG expands BIM library to include compact crawler booms

JLG Industries has expanded its BIM (building information modelling) library, which now includes the company’s compact crawler booms, making the full JLG product line available for download on www.bimobject.com, an industry leading platform for BIM, with select models available directly through JLG.com.

For rental companies, a major advantage of BIM is that, at a very early stage, the equipment required by their customers at a job site can be identified, with transportation planned for. This will allow the right product to be delivered delivered at the right time to complete the work at hand.

JLG’s BIM models are created internally, which ensures that users have the benefit of specifications that look and act as the real equipment would on the job, in addition to allowing JLG to be in direct control of equipment revisions so that models are always up to date.

Neil Doherty, JLG chief engineer and project lead for BIM, said: “BIMobject is an ideal partner for JLG because both companies continue to be at the forefront of innovation for this technology. The company offers a steady flow of visitors to their site and a high penetration of registered users who actively view and download BIM models.”

Guru Bandekar, global vice president, product management & development for JLG, said: “BIM continues to transform the traditionally siloed architecture, engineering and construction disciplines to enhance communication and integrate workflows. BIM helps improve collaboration among teams and gives greater design insight through the entire building lifecycle from concept to demolition or renovation. All models in the library are available and downloadable in a data rich format, giving everyone in the construction value chain access to this valuable tool.”
