Byrne Equipment Rental is predicting that a project boom in Qatar is two years away.
Byrne is one of the world’s leading suppliers to sporting events and – with the World Cup looming – is advising that companies should look to long lead times as they prepare for the event.
“I would say give yourself long lead times and make sure there is clear communication with supplier and vendors. Event planners should also adapt a proactive approach to challenges which may happen along the way.” said Chris Kleinhans, Byrne’s sales manager for Qatar.
“I believe that we can expect a boom, but not yet though. We believe in 2013 the boom will hit but in the meantime projects are still moving at the same speed as before.”
Byrne has been in Qatar for 15 years, and through that period has expanded its fleet, often as a result of requests by local customers.
“Our ‘one-stop-shop policy’ means most customers can find the majority of their rental requirements available on our stock list. This has made us the supplier of choice for many companies here in Qatar and throughout the region,” said Kleinhans.
Byrne completed the rolling out of a fully synchronised, remotely managed, multi-megawatt power station in Qatar last year and is looking to offer full power solution.
Kleinhans explained: “Generators always prove popular and in recent times Byrne has moved more into providing solutions incorporating power stations and providing power to residential districts, labour camps and construction projects.”
Byrne is experiencing high demand for oil and gas-specific equipment, especially desiccant air dryers and oil free compressors. Ablution units are another product that is in demand, added Kleinhans.
Byrne is also now offering Algeco’s Batex range of quick erect warehousing solutions and its 4000 KD series of structures for use as offices, accommodation, medical facilities, recreation areas, schools.
