An explosion described as ‘minor’ has been reported at mineral water supplier Masafi’s plant at Ras Al Khaimah.
According to Masafi, the explosion occurred last Friday while welding work was being conducted one of the plant’s water tanks. The company has confirmed that no workers were injured during the explosion, nor has its water been contaminated.
“The explosion has not affected the quality of the water and the plant is back to normal operation,” reported plant manager S M Usman.
Masafi, which means pure water in Arabic, is one of the most popular brands of mineral water in the region. The company has been widely praised for its environmental work and recently won the Environmental Sustainability award at the Gulfood 2011 awards for initiatives in recycling and CSR
