Kaeser Kompressoren will participate in bauma 2019 presenting its comprehensive range of portable compressors under the theme ‘Tradition and Innovation’. The company’s stand will feature the Mobilair portable compressor range, with flow rates of 1–46 m³/min, driven by diesel, electric and petrol engines in the 7.5 to 450 kW power range – from the compact M13 hand-towable compressor to Kaeser’s portable powerhouse, the dry-running, ‘oil-free’ M500-2.
Kaeser Kompressoren will showcase its newly developed M59 5m3 compressor. The M59 is powered by a Hatz motor which meets the EU Emissions Stage V standard. In addition, the European M59 is available in a version weighing less than 750 kg which permits a chassis without a service brake. The driver does not need a special trailer licence and can select a smaller towing vehicle. When the compressor arrives at the building site, it is easier to uncouple and manoeuvre by hand.
To compensate for the extra weight of the required diesel particulate filter while continuing to offer a portable compressor with an optional aftercooler and a large enough fuel tank for a full day’s work onsite, Kaeser adopted a new approach to lightweight construction. Aluminium offers weight savings as compared with polyethylene with no loss of robustness or long-term value retention.
The M59 is also available on request with a chassis fitted with an overrun brake. This is used, for example, when the user opts for a generator or compressed air treatment equipment with a filter combination for oil-free compressed air. Noise protection is handled by gull-wing doors made of rotation-moulded polyethylene. In both versions, two large gull-wing doors provide access to all service locations.
Kaeser Kompressoren will also provide details about the transition of its entire European product range to Emissions Stage V and the latest product launch in the 400 V e-power programme. Coinciding with bauma, Kaeser will be ready to start shipping the new M255E with an IE4 electric motor, rated at 160 kW.
Kaeser Kompressoren is celebrating its 100th anniversary this year. Established in 1919 as a machine workshop in Coburg by Carl Kaeser Sr., the company has developed into a compressor manufacturer and provider of compressed air system solutions with a global presence. It all began with a small operation producing gears and overhauling automobile engines. Capitalising on its expertise in engine manufacturing, in 1948 Kaeser took the decision to add reciprocating compressors to its range of products.
The roll-out of the compressed air management system Sigma Air Manager 4.0 (SAM 4.0) in 2001 paved the way for digitalisation and Industry 4.0.
The subject of Industry 4.0 in combination with the Mobilair product range will also be prominently featured at the company’s stand at bauma 2019. The latest generation of SAM 4.0, the master control system for all compressed air production and treatment components, optimises pressure values, automatically adjusts compressor system air delivery to accommodate fluctuating pressure demand and optimises system efficiency based on control losses, switching losses and pressure flexibility. Kaeser is developing predictive maintenance systems to enable the digitalisation of the compressed air system.
The SAM 4.0 enables the compressed air station to take advantage of future services such as Sigma Smart Air, for predictive maintenance. To provide real-time display of operating, service and energy data for the compressed air station, the Sigma Smart Air is connected to the Ethernet-based Sigma Network (or Profibus) and controlled by the SAM 4.0 master controller.
