Police in UAE emirate Ras Al Khaimah are targeting heavy vehicles registered and licensed in other emirates and are operating in the emirate without permits, according to the Khaleej Times.
The Department of Economic Development (DED) issued a law that requires heavy vehicles licensed and registered outside RAK to pay an annual fee of Dh2,500 to obtain a licence or permit allowing the trucks to work in the emirate last year.
Major Arif Al Kaas, told the newspaper, that there has been an increasing number of heavy duty trucks on RAK roads creating heavier traffic jams in the emirate. Major Kaas said stiff penalties including hefty fines would be imposed on vehicles that will be caught violating the laws.
