Iveco, through Oman dealer International Equipment & Contracting Company (IECC), has supplied a fleet of 207 of Iveco Trakker trucks to Galfar Engineering & Contracting for use at the new Duqm refinery site.
The Iveco Trakker is a work tool designed to meet the rigours of extreme off-road applications, with a gross vehicles weight range from 18t to 41t and gross combined weights of up to 130t, while deploying a Stralis-based cabin for driving comfort – now widely acknowledged as vitally important to productivity and safety.
Marking the significant order, a symbolic key handover ceremony was presided over by overseas officials from Iveco and attended by individuals from both Galfar Engineering & Contracting and IECC.
Pierre Lahutte, Iveco brand president, stated: “This deal is an important milestone for Iveco. Based on Galfar’s requirements, we leveraged our product’s features to suit the application’s needs.
“Iveco believes in working together with clients to develop its product while creating a platform to grow our business and push infrastructure development. This order is another example of that philosophy.”
The Trakker is a high performance and robust truck designed to operate in off-road conditions akin to those required at the 900-hectare Duqm refinery site, where the fleet will be used to assist the preparatory works.
Galfar’s chairman, Sheikh Salim Saeed Hamad Al Fannah Al Araimi, commented: “Our relationship with IECC dates back to 2008. In addition to the recent order of 207 units, we have approximately 200 Iveco trucks that we rely on to effectively meet our productivity requirements.”
Divyendu Kumar, MD of IECC parent company, Suhail Bahwan Automobiles, continued: “The Iveco Trakker has earned immense loyalty over the years as a reliable and a well-engineered truck, and its deployment in this prestigious project will surely enable a faster turnaround time.”
The Trakker range, equipped with Cursor 13 engines are available in 4×2, 4×4, 6×4, 6×6, 8×4 and 8×8 configurations with power ratings from 380 to 440hp for rigid truck variants, or 4×2, 4×4, 6×4 and 6×6 configurations with power ratings from 380 to 440hp for tractor variants.
Sheikh Ahmed Suhail Bahwan, MD of Suhail Bahwan Group, added: “In the short period of just seven years, IECC has carved out a strong position for itself in the commercial vehicle market in Oman, driven by an ethos that puts the customer first. This partnership is a further step in this direction.”
