Komatsu America has contracted, a supplier in 3D interactive training technologies, to develop 3D virtual software to give “hands-on” training to operation and maintenance personnel by leveraging the latest interactive and gaming technologies.

This fully interactive virtual training provides a modern day alternative to training manuals, videos, passive e-learning and hands-on experience that enables the user to learn anytime, anywhere and on any platform.

Heartwood’s tools also theoretically accelerate user learning and reduce training costs, by among other things decreasing the need for costly live training. A preview of the software can be seen here.

“The application, HW, takes complex concepts and breaks them down into manageable pieces, improving retention and understanding with the user,” said Brian Yureskes, director of training, Komatsu America.

Neil Wadhawan, co-founder of Heartwood, noted: “This reflects our dedication to providing leading heavy equipment companies with the most advanced visual, interactive and portable technologies possible to help them achieve their training goals.”

Heartwood is also provider of 3D interactive training solutions for oil and gas, aerospace, and other industries.

Its technologies have also been called for by Oshkosh for similar opeartion and maintenance training resources, seen here.
