Oman’s Raysut Company will set up a subsidiary firm, named Barqaaqo Cement Company, to supply cement to the African country of Somalia, it has been reported.

Raysut will hold 51% stake in Barqaaqo Cement.

The cement manufacturer also plans to build a terminal in Duqm, expected to ease the supply of cement, local daily Times of Oman reported.

Raysut Cement, the report continued, is eyeing a 150-tonnes per hour Rotary Packing Machine with an auto truck loader at Salalah, in order to provide larger and faster cement packing operations.

“The company also is in the process of increasing the silo capacity in Salalah plant,” Raysut Cement said in a statement.

The major markets for Raysut Cement are domestic, Yemen and East African markets.

Raysut Cement’s group as a whole sold 1,885,041 tonnes of cement in the first half of 2015, against 1,981,710 tonnes of cement in the same period last year, reporting a decline of 4.87% in the duration. Â
