Genie customers have reported an “excellent” feedback following the widespread roll-out of SmartLink system.
The news comes following the AWP manufacturer’s decision to standardise the technology on its European-produced GS electric scissor lifts, GS-69 DC and BE scissor lifts, and Runabout units.
The move, which affects end users in Europe, the Middle East, Africa, and Russia (EMEAR), has been well received by those using the units, according to Genie customers.
“Feedback from end users has been excellent,” commented Roger Wickens, group technical manager of access equipment provider, Lavendon.
“The SmartLink upgrade features proportional joystick lift and drive controls, instead of two-speed push-buttons. Movements with the joystick are more precise and smoother, making elevation or drive easier and faster,” he explained.
Wickens also pointed out that it’s not only end users who are benefitting from the SmartLink upgrade. The standardisation has also served to help those responsible for the machines’ uptime.
“Our customers appreciate the system’s simplified screen overview,” he said.
“On-board diagnostics are easy and advanced troubleshooting at ground level is convenient thanks to the Ethernet cable feature that connects to any laptop,” added Wickens.
In addition to the recent standardisation, a SmartLink retrofit kit – including a software update, controller overlay replacement, upgrade decal kit, and updated manuals – is available to order for a range of older units.
