Chicago Pneumatic has unveiled its new range of handheld tampers.

The US-headquartered equipment manufacturer claims that the MS 595 and MS 585 models are its most compact and lightweight tampers to date.

The products have been designed for compaction applications within small, enclosed spaces.

“We have designed our new tampers range to provide enhanced efficiency whilst still keeping the tried-and-tested, rugged reliability people expect from CP,” commented Andrzej Mrozi?ski, product manager at Chicago Pneumatic.

The latest models offer plates ranging from 6” (152.4mm) to 11” (279.4mm), and sport forward-leaning designs that allow operators to walk behind the tampers whilst their momentum carries them forward. The models also feature easy-access control levers that enable users to switch to idle with just one hand.

The tampers are equipped with four-stroke Honda GXR 120 engines, which deliver lower emissions and improved fuel consumption compared to previous iterations. The engines offer 3.5hp and have been specifically designed for Chicago Pneumatic’s latest range.

“Despite incorporating a more powerful engine, the lightweight tampers are easy to transport whilst the reduction in noise and the ergonomic design provide additional comfort and safety,” Mrozi?ski concluded.
