Doosan Infracore has received an order for 102 excavators from a construction company in Qatar for a large-scale residential complexto be built in Lusail City. The order comprises five types of excavators in the 34-ton class, 30-ton class and 21-ton class, and 112 sets of attachments such as quick couplers and clamshell buckets.
Doosan Infracore aims to secure a market share of more than 10% in the Middle East this year by expanding operations in the GCC, particularly the UAE, Saudi Arabia and Qatar. The recovery of diplomatic relations between the GCC countries and Qatar and the 2022 World Cup in Qatar are expected to be positive for the expansion of the construction equipment market. This new order represents 23% of the excavator market in Qatar where 450 units were sold last year, and the largest for Doosan from a single customer in Qatar.
Chung Kwan-hee, managing director of Heavy BG-emerging sales, Doosan Infracore, said: “Even in a situation where Doosan Infracore suffered a slump due to the pandemic 19 last year, Doosan’s bold strategy of fostering new local partnerships and intensively targeting the mid-to-large excavator market led to this achievement. Doosan Infracore expects to achieve the highest market share in Qatar this year through this large order.”
