Polysys Additive Technologies Middle East (PAT ME) has inaugurated a production plant in Khalifa Industrial Zone Abu Dhabi (Kizad), UAE.
The facility will be used to manufacture multicomponent blends of additives in pelletised forms, known as One Pack Systems (OPS).
The plant, which will boast an initial production capacity of 7,000MT per annum, has been designed to allow for further expansion in line with regional demand for OPS products.
PAT ME was formed as part of a JV between Switzerland’s Polysys Industries, Saudi Arabia’s Pan Gulf Holding, and South Korea’s Songwon Industrial Group. Songwon, which supplies OPS products under its Songnox brand, is the second largest polymer stabiliser supplier in the world.
Maurizio Butti is chief operating officer of Songwon Industrial, said: “This region is one of the fastest growing markets for polyolefins and already a major consumer of OPS. With this new facility, Songwon is in a stronger position to better meet the needs of current and future customers in the Middle East.”
Commenting on the facility’s inauguration, Hans Daniels, general manager of PAT ME, added: “Having a plant here allows us to take full advantage of Kizad’s unique location with its port facilities and infrastructure. It also establishes a very effective hub for supplying customers across the entire region.”
Captain Mohamed Juma Al Shamisi, chief executive officer of owner and operator of Kizad, Abu Dhabi Ports, said: “We are pleased to be providing PAT ME with the platform to facilitate its new business growth in the region.
“By substituting import to region with locally manufactured products, PAT ME joins Abu Dhabi Ports’ efforts towards supporting the leadership’s vision in diversifying Abu Dhabi’s thriving economy,” he noted.
PAT ME’s Abu Dhabi facility represents the latest addition to Songwon Industrial’s global OPS manufacturing portfolio. It will feature production technology identical to that used in the company’s German and US plants.
