Lifting Equipment Engineers Association (LEEA) is hosting the LEEA Lifting & Rigging Conference Middle East, two days of training and development sessions, in Dubai next week at the Shangri-La Hotel on Sheikh Zayed Road in Dubai on 14-15 December 2015.
The event has also been endorsed by both the UAE Ministry of Labour and Continuing Professional Development (CPD) Certification Service – meaning lifting industry professionals who attend can expect their attendance at the event to be technically recognised.
Dr Ali Salem, director of the Ministry of Labour, which has worked with LEEA on a number of projects in the region in recent years, will open the event before LEEA’s Geoff Holden continues proceedings.
On the opening day of the event, Anthony Culshaw, senior design engineer at ‘below-the-hook’ equipment manufacturer Modulift, will explore the challenges of custom-designed lifting rigs.
Keith Rainford, from Dubai Cranes & Technical Services, will also take attendees through the eagerly awaited paper on explain control, load monitoring and correct selection of overhead cranes by Edgar Small from the American University in Dubai.
Day Two highlights will include a special workshop led by Keith Anderson, chief rigging engineer at Bechtel Corporation, who will look at stability in lifting arrangements, design considerations, unstable arrangements, static equilibrium and load levelling.
The event will also hear from representatives of LEEA, IPAF, BlokCam, Wolffkran, CCC, ZT Safety Systems and Sure NDT, while the latest presentation to be added to agenda is by Bart Dieben, an entertainment rigging specialist, who will take attendees behind the scenes of a theatre production.
The two days of educational and technical presentations will be punctuated by refreshments and networking against the backdrop of product exhibition stands from lifting and rigging suppliers.
