SDLG has delivered its first motor grader in the Indonesian market to South Korean-owned electricity provider operating in the Borneo jungle.
The machine is currently working at the company’s Kalimantan coal-handling operation, deep in the heart of the Indonesian part of the Borneo rainforest.
The customer, PT KEPID Technology Indonesia, says that it has been impressed with the grader’s power, fuel efficiency, and control.
“The fuel efficiency and power rival any other brand of motor grader, so we feel like we’ve got a really good deal for the price of the machine,” said Daniel Krismantoro, operations manager at PT KEPID.
PT KEPID’s Indonesian coal-handling operation is located at a river port, approximately 200km from South Kalimantan’s capital city, Banjarmasin.
The site receives crushed coal transported by trucks from a nearby crushing plant. The material is then loaded onto ships for distribution.
The SDLG G9190 motor grader is used to keep the loading and unloading area flat and smooth. As the unit is used primarily as a support machine, PT KEPID was willing to forego many of the bells and whistles offered by more expensive units.
“The grader isn’t in operation all day, every day, so we don’t need an expensive machine – just something that will do the job when we need it,” added Krismantoro.
The G9190 was launched by SDLG last year at Jakarta’s Mining Indonesia trade show. The unit was produced at the manufacturer’s million-square-metre manufacturing facility in Linyi, China.
The motor grader is powered by a 146kW-rated German-designed Dalian Deutz Stage II electronic injection engine that SDLG claims saves energy whilst maximising performance. The machine features an electro-hydraulic transmission control system and a falling-object and roll-over protection structure (FOPS/ROPS) cab.
“I’m impressed with the performance – it performs as well as any of the other brands of motor grader I’ve operated, but the cab is much more comfortable,” commented Rudi F, machine operator at PT KEPID.
In addition to supplying the grader to PT KEPID, PT Infraco Penta Prima Servis (IPPS) – SDLG’s authorised Indonesian dealer – provide after-sales support for the unit.
“We receive great support from IPPS,” concluded Krismantoro. “For us, a good relationship with your local dealer is highly important, and this is what will keep us buying their products.”
