Stemac has announced that it will use Volvo Penta-equipped gensets to deliver electricity at several of this summer’s 2014 FIFA World Cup games in Brazil.
The Porto Alegre-headquartered generator assembler has been operating for more than 60 years, and has sold in excess of 60,000 generators across Brazil. As such, World Cup officials have entrusted the firm to provide power to several stadiums that will be used during the 2014 tournament.
“We are very proud of this opportunity,” commented Diems Ollermann, engineering consultant at Stemac. “We understand that we were chosen for this project, in part, because of our ability to get the equipment sooner than our competitors could have.”
Stemac has opted to use Volvo Penta engines in gensets that will provide power at two World Cup stadiums: the Beira-Rio ground in Porto Alegre, which is to host five matches, and the Manaus stadium in Manaus, which is to host four matches.
The Stemac gensets have already been delivered to these venues, and will be powered by Volvo Penta TAD1642GE and TAD1643GE engines. Each generator set is capable of providing approximately 700kVA of energy.
“The high profile of these gensets at the World Cup demonstrates the trust that Stemac has in our brand and heralds a growing partnership for our two companies,” said Ron Huibers, president of Volvo Penta of the Americas.
“We’re looking forward to joining Stemac in powering such an important, prestigious global event, as well as our continued growth together as we power the everyday business of Brazil.”
Ollermann added: “Volvo Penta engines are reliable and powerful. We’re confident in their ability to perform.”
