Academic submissions are now being invited for pre-studies or similar projects that support the aims of Volvo’s Construction Climate Challenge (CCC).
Pre-studies will be supported with funding of up to $75,000 over nine-month periods. As a global initiative, submissions for the CCC are being welcomed from all continents, and individuals associated with universities, research institutes, and similar organisations can apply.
The aim of the initiative is to drive sustainability throughout the construction industry value chain, according to Volvo. To this end, the Swedish equipment manufacturer intends to create a dialogue between industry, academics, and politicians.
The first step in the CCC will involve the consolidation of existing research on environmental management, and the identification of research that still needs to be carried out. In turn, Volvo and its partners will make this information readily available to the wider industry.
Key areas of interest for the CCC include energy efficiency, enablers for change and innovation, circular business model research, and emerging sustainable technologies.
The closing date for pre-study grant applications is 25 August 2014.
