Terex has released a Boom Booster kit for its CC 8800-1 crawler crane.
The enhancement increases the model’s lift capacity by up to 90%, enabling it to outlift any crane within the 1,000-tonne to 2,000-tonne capacity range, according to its designers.
Terex claims that with Boom Booster, the CC 8800-1 is even able to outlift certain 3,000-tonne capacity models.
“No other lift-enhancing equipment on the market offers the balance of increased lifting capacity and low economical transport costs than the new Terex Boom Booster,” said Guntram R Jakobs, manager of product marketing at Terex Cranes.
“This new Terex boom configuration will give a big boost to the customers’ results in the field,” he added.
Boom Booster has been designed to increase performance when working with steep and long boom configurations, such as those required for applications within the fields of petrochemicals, wind energy, and power plant installation.
The kit offers up to 72m of lift-enhancing boom structure. Its wedge-shaped, 11m long lower and upper adapters flare out to a 10m width – nearly three times the CC 8800-1’s standard 3.5m boom width – to strengthen the system’s structural integrity. Five 10m-long intermediate segments offer the ability to work at a boom length of up to 50m.
In addition to increased lift capacities, the Terex Boom Booster has been designed to offer quick, cost-effective transportation. The enhancement can be disassembled and shipped in standard 12.2m open-top containers, meaning that only seven truckloads are required to transport the full Boom Buster kit to a jobsite.
The product features a pin connection design that eliminates bolts and facilitates faster and simpler boom assembly in the field. Partially-assembled boom sections can be shipped to the jobsite in order to further quicken assembly speed.
Both intermediate and adapter sections incorporate the Terex Fall Protection System and walkway to enhance safety when working at height.
