A bespoke Sennebogen 875 E-Series materials handling machine is being used to unload coal from ships at Aksa Port in Turkey.
The crane belongs to logistics firm Kocaman Denizcilik, and was delivered at the end of 2013 by Sennebogen’s Turkish sales and service partner Forsen.
The materials handling machine is used exclusively to unload coal from ships at Aksa Port. With its 7m3 double-shell grab, the 875 is able to shift 600 tonnes per hour. Moreover, the unit offers a cycle time of just 30 seconds.
This particular 875 was developed by Sennebogen to meet the specific requirements of its customers. Mounted atop of a crawler gantry undercarriage with a 5m clearance height, and a 5.8m track width, the machine is well suited to daily operations at the port. A mobile crawler crane gantry was selected to allow flexible work over the entire length of the quay and beyond.
However, Kocaman Denizcilik has stated that one of the biggest advantages of the 875 is its economical nature. The firm says that with its hybrid energy recovery system and efficient electric drive, the machine has resulted in significant savings in terms of operating costs.
The energy that this arrangement saves when lowering the boom is made available for the next lift – an system that is up to 30% more efficient than conventional methods, according to Sennebogen.
