KEF Holdings has announced plans to open a manufacturing facility in Jebel Ali, Dubai.

The UAE-based holding company, which produces construction-related products for use within the healthcare and hospitality sectors, expects operations to commence at the plant before the end of 2015.

KEF has stated that the UAE manufacturing hub will enable it to expand its prefabricated, off-site offerings.

Faizal E Kottikollon, chairman and founder of KEF Holdings, said: “With Dubai poised to establish itself as a global medical tourism hub, KEF Holdings aims to contribute in the Emirate’s growth story by introducing economically sustainable and innovative solutions to the healthcare and hospitality infrastructure.

“In today’s performance-driven construction landscape, prefabrication is considered a significant advancement within health facility designs, construction, and procurement. Through our newly-launched facility in Jebel Ali, KEF Holdings is keen to provide world-class expertise in design, engineering, manufacturing, assembly, and project management,” he explained.

The Jebel Ali plant will be used to support the firm’s existing activities, both in the Middle East and further afield. In January of this year, KEF signed a partnership with Australia’s Total Alliance Health Partners International (TAHPI) to launch a design studio in Dubai Healthcare City. TAHPI is currently a strategic partner for KEF’s 500-bed PMHP Hospital, which is under construction in Calicut, India. Due for completion in Q1 2016, the tertiary hospital will become India’s first healthcare facility designed and developed entirely through off-site construction technologies.

KEF Holdings is currently exhibiting at Building Healthcare Exhibition & Conference 2015, which is taking place at Dubai World Trade Centre.
