Dubai will be the staging point for Chinese crane and hoist manufacturer GJJ as it plots its global expansion.

GJJ will open an assembly facility and regional base for sales and rentals in Dubai by the middle of 2011.

According to Access International, Dubai plant forms of a strategy to increase sales to $1.5 billion within three years, although GJJ expects China to remain its strongest market.

The president of GJJ, Wang Hua Long, said that the company was increasing its production capacity to satisfy global demand for tower cranes and hoists. Three of its facilities in China are to double their capacity while a new factory is being built in Tianjin.

Following Dubai, GJJ will look to establish further regional facilities in South Africa, North Africa, India, Brazil, Russia and South East Asia over the next decade.

Wang added that acquisitions are also part of the strategy, and GJJ said it could soon complete the purchase of an undisclosed Chinese tower crane and concrete pump manufacturer.
