Nearly 30.8 million tons of cement have been produced in the first six months of current Iranian calendar year, says Mehr News Agency.
According to the report, there has been 18% increase in comparison to previous years figure. During the Iranian Month of Shahrivar some 5.6 million tons of cement have been produced which is 23% more than the same period previous year.
Over 2.1 million tons of cement was exported during March 21-August 22, according to the report of Iranian Mines and Mining Industries Development and Renovation (IMIDRO).
Iraq, Azerbaijan, Turkmenistan, Qatar and Saudi Arabia are the main markets for Iranian cement, and cement exports could reach five million tons by year end, said Secretary of Association of Cement Industry Employers Mohammad-Hassan Pour-Khalil.
Currently Iran’s cement factories operate within 92-95 percent of their capacities, Pour-Khalil predicted that the construction projects will thrive during autumn season which would help boost the cement market.
According to the Ministry of Industries and Mines, cement production capacity has grown eight fold in the past 30 years which led to the country’s self-sufficiency in cement production.
Under Iran’s Vision 2025, cement production capacity has been predicted at 110 million tons, of which 20 million tons should be exported annually.
