UD Trucks has been present in the Middle East for over 35 years, since the time the company was called Nissan Diesel. UD Trucks became part of the Volvo Group in 2007. UD Trucks manufactures light, medium and heavy-duty trucks as well as special vehicles.
UD Trucks registered a nine percent increase in sales across the Middle East, East and North Africa (MEENA) region in 2018. In the Middle East region alone, the Japanese truck manufacturer either increased its market share or recorded stable sales in five out of seven markets.

In 2018, UD Trucks launched two new Quester models – the Quester 6x4R-40 Tons and 8x4R- 46 T with hub reduction for the heavy construction industry in the Middle East. This year, the company launched the ‘New Quester’ heavy-duty trucks in the MEENA region, with features such as Easy Safe Controlled Transmission (ESCOT) automated manual transmission, engines with higher horsepower and telematics.

UD Trucks also increased its market share in segments such as waste management and construction in the UAE and Saudi Arabia. Bahrain and Qatar remains strong markets for UD Trucks where the brand enjoyed significant market share; in Bahrain, the brand continues to hold the number one position in the market.

UD Trucks reactivated the Lebanon and Jordan markets in 2018 as the brand transitioned from the legacy trucks to the introduction of new models in both the heavy and medium duty sectors. It also enjoyed increased market share in two of its key East African markets, Ethiopia and Sudan.

2019 is set to be an important year for the brand as it investigates entering new regional markets with significant potential such as Tunisia and Kenya, and other markets in West and North Africa.
