Liebherr, a family-run business founded in 1949, comprises over 140 companies employing 47,925 people and operates in 13 markets including earthmoving equipment, material handling equipment, deep foundation equipment, mining equipment, mobile and crawler cranes, tower cranes, concrete technology, maritime cranes, gear technology and automation systems, aerospace and transportation systems, components, refrigeration and freezing, and hotels.
In 2020, the Liebherr Group was unable to match its record performance from the previous year. Group-wide sales totalled €10‚341 million, which represents a 12.0 % decline compared to 2019. Sales in construction and mining machines reached €6,848 million, 10.4 % lower than in the previous year. Liebherr expects to achieve a notable increase in sales in the earthmoving product segment in 2021, driven by government infrastructure programmes.
Throughout 2020, Liebherr’s R&D activities focused heavily on alternative drivetrain technologies. Liebherr’s product portfolio includes fully and partially electric machines and components in product segments such as mobile and crawler cranes, concrete technology, mining and aerospace and transportation systems.
