Dubai Parks and Resorts (DPR) has taken delivery of the Middle East’s first three Genie Z-60/37DC articulated booms.
The all-electric aerial work platforms (AWPs) were ordered by DPR equipment provider, Al Masaood Trucks and Equipment, and supplied by Genie’s authorised Dubai distributor, Al Mahroos.
The Genie Z-60/37DC boasts a working height of 20.16m, horizontal outreach of 11.15m, and 7.4m up-and-over clearance.
The units have been supporting maintenance activities at the three-theme park resort since November 2016.
Nishad Abdulla, assistant fleet manager at DPR, said: “Our company prides itself on complying with the highest European worksite health and safety standards. With this in mind, we are always looking for new solutions that suit our needs in terms of productivity and the quality of worksite conditions.
“Thanks to its excellent range of motion, versatility, quietness, clean performance, and four-wheel drive abilities, this new Genie model is an excellent and cost-effective alternative to separate diesel and electric powered units. For us, the Z-60/37DC boom definitely ticks the right boxes.”
The Genie Z-60/37DC shares many components with its Z-62/40 counterpart, and also offers similar all-terrain capabilities. The model combines the four-wheel drive performance of a conventional diesel-powered AWP, with the energy- and noise-related benefits of an all-electric machine, according to its designers.
“The Genie Z-60/37DC boom has the versatility it takes to adapt to [DPR’s] broad spectrum of architectural styles,” said Abdulla. “Its narrow footprint, four-wheel drive capabilities, and all-terrain, non-marking tyres are an excellent match for work outdoors on rough ground, and indoors on fragile surfaces where space is often limited.
“Since part of the resort is already open to the public, low noise levels and emissions-free operation are an absolute must have. [These characteristics] allow us to operate the machines all day long without disturbing our visitors,” he added.
