Chinese equipment manufacturer Shandong Lingong Construction Machinery (SDLG), has won the Green Leadership Award and the Corporate Social Responsibility Award at the China Charity Festival in Beijing.
Established in 2011, the China Charity Festival aims to promote charitable spirit and actions, and SDLG was recognised for its longstanding commitment to environmental conservation and charity campaigns.
“As a pioneer of energy efficient technology in China, SDLG is actively working to reduce its environmental footprint,” says Wen Degang, general manager of SDLG.
“We are proud to say that the company has made significant progress towards making its products more environmentally friendly. Our partnership with WWF has magnified our environmental effort.”
SDLG has been engaged in energy saving research projects since 2007, resulting in the launch of a generation of energy-saving wheel loader range that reduced fuel consumption by 10% in 2009.
In 2012, the company continued its environmental mission by signing a partnership agreement with WWF, has since become the first construction equipment company in China to pledge and successfully reduce carbon dioxide emissions by 1.65 million tons in three years.
“SDLG will continue to take the lead in reducing carbon dioxide emissions,” says Wen. “In the next five years, SDLG will invest more than 300 million renminbi in a smart manufacturing project in partnership with the School of Software of Tsinghua University.”
“The project aims to establish intelligent plants in pursuit of zero emissions in production.”
SDLG’s commitment to charity also extends far beyond its equipment business. To date, Shandong Lingong has established three primary schools in Xinjiang, Anshan and Sichuan, as part of a public service project to improve the provision of education in poverty-stricken, rural areas in China.
