Dubai’s Swaidan Trading, the equipment trading arm of Al Naboodah Group, has ordered 50 ‘SMC TL90’ lighting towers in its first major order from UK-based manufacturer Morris Site Machinery (MSM), which also celebrated the sales as an international sales milestone for the British business.
The SMC TL90 LED lighting tower is a fuel-efficient model that has been specifically adapted to improve heat reflection and maintain performance in the high temperatures of the Middle East.
Conveniently, the model also features a changeover connection that allow the unit to flexibly switch from using its own engine to running off mains power, or alternatively allows for up to three machines to be linked together and run off only one engine.
The TL90 LED lighting tower is also compact and easy to use, and its five powerful 240W LED lamps provide strong and even lighting over a lamp life of 50,000 hours.
The order is also the first major order taken up with the British business from Dubai, and marks a significant step for the company in the development of its export footprint.
The deal was signed in the presence of both Chris Morris, CEO of MSM, and Phil Winnington, international business director for MSM, who flew out to Dubai to meet with Swaidan.
Winnington commented: “We are delighted to have begun what we hope will become a long-standing, mutually beneficial relationship with Al Naboodah Group Enterprises and Swaidan Trading.
“The contract demonstrates faith in our great British products and service and the focus we put on quality – both the products we take to market but also the partnerships we build with customers. It’s about understanding each other’s businesses enabling each to serve the other profitably.
“It also is important for us in Dubai, where we are now looking to build our business. Hot on the heels of this sales success a further order for lighting towers has now been placed for this territory.”
The SMC TL90 LED lighting units are being delivered in October for use on construction projects.
Ajit Kumar, CEO of Swaidan Trading, added: “We wanted the best lighting towers to satisfy the demands of temperature and terrain in Dubai as the momentous plans for Expo 2020 take shape. MSM meets all our requirements for supplying energy-saving, quality and reliable equipment.”
MSM is part of a fifth-generation family business based in the UK that supplies the rail, petrochemical, construction and general purpose hire sectors with its SMC lighting tower brand and three other on-site machinery brands: Hilta, Denyo and ArcGen.
The business has four depots and service hubs in the UK and currently exports to over 20 countries – the largest share of its business being in Australia, where its TL90 range of lighting towers has made a name for the brand over the past 12 years.
