The third instalment of INTERMAT Middle East is officially underway.

The exhibition, which focuses on construction equipment, machinery and materials, will occupy the Abu Dhabi National Exhibition Centre (ADNEC) until Thursday.

His Excellency Dr Abdullah Belhaif Al-Nuaimi, UAE Minister of Public Works, led the official opening tour.

“Since INTERMAT Middle East is the region’s biggest construction exhibition, we are very happy to extend our support to the event and be a patron once again,” he commented. “With Dubai winning the Expo 2020 and the construction industry expected to boom again, INTERMAT Middle East is an excellent platform to expand our network and meet some of the biggest, most well-known and reputable organisations in the construction industry.”

The trade show, which has been organised by Comexposium and Clarion Events Middle East, will offer professionals and organisations from across the industry an opportunity to meet with high-level executives and experts from the UAE’s Ministry of Public Works (MOPW), and thus highlight the importance of government investment for the country’s future.

Dr Al-Nuaimi contends that the event has a key role to play in bringing together the Middle East’s construction community.

“Having accumulated a wealth of experience over the years, INTERMAT Middle East brings together companies providing construction equipment, machinery and materials from across the world that are not only cost effective but also technologically enhanced.”

Comexposium’s Maryvonne Lanoë, INTERMAT exhibition director, said: “We are extremely pleased to once again have the support of the Ministry of Public Works and the Department of Municipal Affairs. 2013 was not the biggest year in market history for the GCC area, despite the growth seen in promising countries such as Saudi Arabia, UAE and Iraq. However, the announcement of the World Expo 2020 in Dubai has already fuelled the market with orders for road building, sewerage works, transport and tourism infrastructure.”

The third instalment of INTERMAT Middle East will also feature a hosted buyers programme. By making it easier for the region’s top buyers to attend the show, it is hoped that this scheme will serve to maximise profit for exhibitors.

“The market for equipment and machinery will naturally benefit from this upward trend,” explained Lanoë. “Consequently, with this year’s show taking place at the start of the year, it is an essential place to be for anyone who wants to ‘go shopping’ on the equipment market and plan ahead for all the new construction projects.

“Also, once again this year we are conducting a hosted buyers programme, which aims to attract around 100 decision makers from across the GCC region,” she added. “These are particularly attentive to the launch of new products in the area.”
