Hyundai Heavy Industries Co. Ltd has announced that it has signed a long-term deal with Atlas Weyhausen to sell Atlas’s range of compaction equipment.
The deal will see Atlas’ range of rollers launched in emerging markets including the Middle East, Turkey and Russia, from the second half of this year.
The machines will be branded as Hyundai HI, as sold through its existing dealer network. Â
Four single drum rollers, ranging from 7 tonnes to 14 tonnes, and tandem rollers with weights between 2.5- and 3-tonnes will be sold..
According to Ji Sang-pyo, senior vice president of Hyundai Heavy’s Construction Equipment Division, the partnership enables Hyundai to expand its construction equipment line, and Atlas Weyhausen to boost its sales via Hyundai Heavy’s 500-plus dealer network in 150 countries worldwide.
“We expect this win-win partnership diversifying our construction equipment portfolio will not only boost our existing products sales but will also make HHI the one-stop shop for construction equipment.” said Sang-pyo.
Helmut Lorch, managing director of Atlas Weyhausen said, “For Atlas Weyhausen, this long term strategic partnership is a milestone in the worldwide distribution of its proven compaction equipment line, and will enable us to further accelerate our developing efforts in this line of business.”
Atlas Weyhausen was formerly owned by Terex, but was sold in March 2010 as it was no longer profitable. Its main production facilities are in Delmenhorst, in northern Germany.
