JCB chairman and owner Sir Anthony Bamford is set to be appointed to House of Lords as Lord Bamford, after his peerage was first proposed by David Cameron, UK prime minister, in 2010.
The equipment company employs over 6,000 people at 11 factories in the UK, producing 75% of JCB’s total exports, generating revenues of $2bn and contributing nearly $850m directly to the exchequer.
In the Middle East construction market, JCB has a diversified range of interest across markets and countries, and most recently unveiled a new fuel-saving LED lighting tower range.
An innovative financing deal agreed this year in the UAE with ADCB will also better facilitate buyers of JCB equipment by supporting local distributor Galadari Truck and Heavy Equipment.
Looking across to developments in Qatar, JCB is being distributed through Mannai Heavy Equipment Division, which is actively consolidated its relationships with major Qatar contractors like Urbacon Trading & Contracting (UCC), which is responsible for the Mall of Qatar, and Lekhwiya Sports Stadium.
Affirming JCB’s choice, MD for UCC, Ramez Al Khayyat, noted: “Priding ourselves on the timely completion of our projects, we know that we can trust Mannai HED to help make this happen.”
In all, JCB and the Bamford family have given over $6m to the Conservative Party, and also patronise several non-political causes, including the National Society for the Prevention of Cruelty to Children.
