An 11-strong fleet of Liebherr cranes is helping with construction on Istanbul’s largest housing project.
The cranes were supplied to Evora Istanbul’s main contractor Teknik Yapi Construction by Liebherr’s authorised Turkish dealer Atilla Dural. The fleet is being used as part of a rental agreement that is scheduled to last between six and eight months.
“We have our own fleet of Liebherr cranes, consisting of six units,” explained Taner Ozcan, Teknik Yapi’s project manager at the Evora site. “However, we needed the extra cranes and because of the fast construction schedule, and the diversity of lift capacities and requirements, we decided on a rental agreement for the units to be used on this site.”
The Liebherr fleet consists of a combination of 132 EC-H 8 Litronics, 154 EC-H 6 Litronics, a 90 LD, and a 42 KR.1 crawler crane.
“Atilla Dural worked with us to ensure that we had the most appropriate crane specifications and deployment patterns to ensure this complex project was completed to schedule, and that the rental periods were no longer than necessary,” said Ozcan. “They also supplied all the materials hoists, thereby providing all the heavy lifting requirements, and so we have been able to work together and bring the project to fruition with great precision.”
Designed by Turkish architect Eren Yorulmazer, Evora Istanbul is being built on a hillside overlooking the Sea of Marmara. The project, which began in 2011 and is due to be completed during Q1 2015, will consist of 44 blocks and will eventually become home to more than 20,000 people.
