Balkrishna Tyres (BKT) attended this year’s Automechanika Dubai 2017 exhibition as a diamond sponsor and official tyre partner, and came equipped with the product to demonstrate its most recent innovations in the off-highway tyre segment.
In particular, BKT took the opportunity to launch its Portmax PT 93, a brand new tyre for terminal tractors, at its booth. Engineered tyre for intermodal port applications, the size 280/75 R 22.5 tyre has antistatic tread compound that offers excellent wear resistance even in the most demanding conditions, minimising replacement frequency and machine downtime.
PMV Middle East also caught up with Balkrishna Tyres (BKT), whose Vikash Naithani, manager for corporate communications, commented: “So far everything is good. Automechanika better than last year. Customers from South Africa, Australia and Asia.
“From our point of view the exhibition is doing well. Our customers are visiting us, and this is the right platform where we can display our new product and they can come and see our range. We’re also doing pretty well in the off-highway segment.”
BKT currently holds a 6% share in the global off-highway tyre segment – a position that the company attributes to its excellent quality-price ratio of its products, as well as the widespread and reliable customer service provided by its network.
In the GCC, Naithani added that BKT has “a bunch of new distributors who have been approaching their customers”, and that the show had been a good opportunity for all those customers to come and meet BKT directly.
He explained: “It’s good for making them understand that they are dealing with a good brand. We are employing the same strategy all over the world, and it’s good for our brand.”
Alongside the Portmax Pt 93 product, BKT displayed a selection of other industrial tyres, including the Earthmax SR 23 tyre for motor graders and loaders. This product distinguishes itself with self-cleaning properties, as well as high front and lateral traction and an extended operating life-cycle.
Another showpiece was the Earthmax SR 33, is a radial tyre for multipurpose trucks, which ensures extraordinary grip on soft and sandy grounds. This tyre is extremely resistant to snags and punctures, and offers high stability.
Also present were the Earthmax SR 31, a distinct tyre for articulated dumpers and wheel loaders designed to deliver comfort and high traction, stability and manoeuvrability even on muddy terrains.
Another port product, the Portmax PM 90, meanwhile meets the requirements of port logistics with an all-steel structure – makes the casing extraordinarily strong and robust for extended life-cycle and higher stability on telehandlers and small loaders in applications involving the handling of heavy loads.
The tyre manufacturer also displayed its Airomax AM 27, a tyre for high-speed cranes operating on both on road surfaces and the rough ground of construction sites. Its features include resistance to cuts and high temperatures to maintain a high degree of safety even under extreme conditions.
