Emirates National Oil Company (ENOC) announced it has introduced Biodiesel 5 for commercial and industrial use in the UAE.Â
The alternative green fuel is used for diesel engines and can reduce carbon footprints and greenhouse gas emissions.Â
Produced using vegetable, waste cooking, and animal oils, the fuel’s launch is in line with the UAE Energy Plan.Â
Biodiesel 5 has been tested in the UAE, and is aimed at companies using trucks and heavy construction equipment.Â
Companies can use the fuel “without the need to upgrade the engines and fuel storage facility”, according to WAM.
ENOC’s group CEO, Saif Humaid Al Falasi, said it expects the product to provide various commercial and environmental benefits.Â
“By introducing Biodiesel 5 in the commercial and industrial segment, ENOC has pioneered yet another initiative amongst [national oil companies],” he added.
“This product will not only help our customers gain operational efficiencies and reduce the emission level, but also bring us a step closer in adapting to the market changes and ensuring a diversified fuel mix to support the UAE’s goals and ambitions.” Â
