The size of the global rental fleet of mobile elevating work platforms (MEWPs) has reached 1.17-million units, according to data from the International Powered Access Federation (IPAF).
The latest figure represents worldwide growth of 4% compared to data from the previous year.
The MEWP rental market in the United States recorded growth of 5% in 2015, reaching approximately $8.3bn, according to the IPAF US Powered Access Rental Market Report 2016. The US rental fleet grew by 3% to reach 530,000 units.
In Europe, the MEWP rental market grew by 3% in 2015 to reach an estimated $3bn (EUR2.7bn). Fleet expansion continued at a moderate pace to reach 313,000 units, according to the IPAF European Powered Access Rental Market Report 2016. Researchers surveyed 10 European countries: Denmark, Finland, France, Germany, Italy, the Netherlands, Norway, Spain, Sweden, and the United Kingdom.
China’s MEWP rental fleet, meanwhile, grew by 35% in 2015 to reach 12,000 units.
