The Saudi Arabian division of Japanese engineering major Sankyu, has taken delivery of two Liebherr All Terrain cranes, a 50 tonne LTM 1050-3.1 and 180 tonne LTM 1160-5.2.
The five axle LTM 1160-5.2 cranes features a six section 62 metre main boom, plus a 10.8 to 19 metre bi-fold swing-away extension, Liebherr wrote in a statement posted on its website.
The new cranes, the company’s first Liebherrs, will be mainly used for maintenance work in refineries and other industrial facilities, the company said.
Commenting on the development, deputy branch manager Mahdi Al Salem said, “To grow our business in Saudi Arabia and live up to our vision and mission of being number one in mechanical industry maintenance, we need to rely on strong customer service and products with a high level of safety. The new cranes from Liebherr are a perfect fit for our support team. With Liebherr, we can rely on competent and fast service should the cranes ever break down. Crane operations in refineries and other sensitive industries are very challenging.”
