The deadline for the recently implemented mandatory unemployment insurance program, which covers all employees nationwide, including free-zone and semi-government workers, is quickly approaching.
It is crucial for individuals to enroll in this program before the June 30 deadline to avoid penalties.
The program offers two categories: Category A is designed for individuals earning below AED16,000, while Category B is for those earning over AED16,000. Subscriptions start as low as AED5, providing coverage up to AED60,000.
To register online, follow these four easy steps:
- Visit the designated website.
- Click on the “subscribe here” option to access the registration page.
- Choose your sector, provide personal identification details, phone number, and enter the verification code received via SMS. Select your preferred payment interval (monthly, quarterly, semi-annual, or annual), and provide your email address.
- Proceed to the payment gateway to successfully complete your registration.
To be eligible for compensation, subscribers must maintain the insurance for a minimum of 12 months. No compensation will be provided for job losses occurring within the initial 12-month period.
Compensation payments cover a maximum duration of three months per claim, starting from the date of unemployment.
Failure to comply with the subscription requirement will result in fines of AED400, while failure to make installment premium payments will incur fines of AED200.
It’s important to note that individuals who have lost their jobs due to fraudulent activities, deceit, complaints, non-peaceful labor strikes or stoppages, or working for fictitious organizations will not be eligible for job loss compensation.
