Terex Aerial Work Platforms’ Genie Z-60/37 FE hybrid articulating boom is named ‘Rental Product of the Year’ by the European Rental Association (ERA) at the European Rental Awards in Amsterdam.
The 20m-high Genie Z-60/37 FE hybrid articulated boom is a high performance, low emission, aerial work platform adapted to indoor as well as outdoor tasks that combines diesel and battery power.
The unit is equipped with high-efficiency three-phase AC electric drive motors, an electric clutch and hydraulic pumps, supported by a 18.5kW or 24.7HP Kubota engine to recharge the battery pack.
“This is a true four-by-four hybrid machine designed for indoor and outdoor use and with low fuel consumption,” the judges concluded, highlighting sustainability in their selection of the model.

Overall, the Genie Z-60/37 FE combines the performance of Genie’s latest 4WD diesel machines, with the quiet, clean efficiency, as well as the lower maintenance costs, of its electric models.
In hybrid mode, the unit can provides more than a week of run time with a single tank of diesel, while performing in extremely efficiently in rough terrain conditions; in electric mode, it can provide a full shift of operation on a single battery charge.
Adam Hailey, director product management at Terex AWP, noted: “With its unique three-phase AC power system, the Genie Z-60/37 FE is the first high performance hybrid unit on the market. It also stores energy produced during braking to recharge its batteries, further maximising range.”
As part of its rough-terrain capabilities, the Genie Z-60/37 FE offers 45% gradeability, 33cm of ground clearance, and is capable of travelling 25% faster than other typical diesel-powered units.
The unit’s active oscillating axle further increases wheel contact on irregular terrain, while its water protected AC motors allow the machine to operate submerged to a 91cm fluid depth.
