Engineering solutions provider, Sandvik has received an order from the Chilean copper miner Sociedad Punta del Cobre (Pucobre) to supply autonomous loaders equipped with AutoMine® Multi-Lite system for its mining operations in northern Chile’s Atacama region.
The order is valued at approximately $9.5 million (SEK 100 million) and was booked in the second quarter 2023, Sandvik wrote in a statement.
The order from Pucobre, one of the largest underground copper producers in Chile, includes Toroâ„¢ LH621i autonomous loaders. Deliveries will start during 2023 and be completed during 2024, the statement noted.

AutoMine® Multi-Lite system is a highly advanced automation system that enables system operators to remotely and simultaneously supervise multiple automated Sandvik underground loaders and trucks, enabling improved productivity, safety and cost efficiency in underground mining operations.
Sandvik MCB acquistion
Earlier this year, Sandvik has announced the acquisition of MCB Services and Minerals, a seller of mining software and services and exclusive reseller partner to Deswik in Brazil.
MCB, which had revenues of $5.8 million in 2022, will be reported in Digital Mining Technologies, a division within the business area Sandvik Mining and Rock Solutions (SMR). Impact on Sandvik’s earnings per share will be accretive.
Sandvik has acquired Deswik in April 2022, and MCB and Deswik has operated on a joint venture basis in supporting customers across Latin America, primarily in Brazil, but also in Chile, Peru, Argentina and Mexico.
