Liebherr, the world’s largest crane maker has reported revenues of $10.7 billion for 2010, a nine percent increase over 2009, with construction-related equipment, as a percentage of total group sales, increasing 62.5% in 2010.
Saudi Arabia remains one of its top ten markets but overall the Middle East experienced a dip of 21% to $655 million, a figure which is a considerably behind its strongest market Europe which (although flat) saw total sales of $3.3 billion in the year.
While its earthmoving and mining division revenues climbed to $3.41 billion, the $2.55 billion received by its mobile and crawler crane division represented a much more modest increase of 2.7%. Meanwhile tower cranes and mixers squeezed into plus figures with 1.1% growth to take it to $737 million and maritime crane sales grew by 9.2% to $1.03 billion.
Liebherr it expects revenues in the first half of 2011 to rise by 14% and a 10% increase for the year which could take sales to over $14 billion
