Abu Dhabi based Utmost Gulf General Transport, which specialises in heavy transportation and construction equipment supply in the UAE, has taken delivery of four Kobelco excavators from Kobelco’s UAE distributor Al Ghandi Auto Group.
Utmost Gulf General Transport will use the four Kobelco SK380HDLC excavators at the Bab Integrated Facilities oil and gas project in Abu Dhabi from June 2018. The company maintains a fleet of 75 excavators among its 400 commercial vehicles and construction equipment and supplies them exclusively to oil and gas projects in Abu Dhabi. Projecting an increase in demand for its new project starting this year, Utmost placed the order in December 2017.

Rohra, director, Utmost Gulf General Transport.
Roshan Rohra, director, Utmost Gulf General Transport, says the need for the excavators came from the specific requirements at the Bab Integrated Facilities site to break hard rock.
“We provide breakers as an attachment with excavators. This project will require a large number of breakers during next year, which increases the demand for heavy-duty excavators. We expect to operate the new machines for at least two years at the site,” says Rohra.
Rohra plans to invest in five additional, smaller excavators for compatibility with 2-ton breakers. According to him, the decision to invest in Kobelco was made after evaluating the price and quality values of all competing brands.
“As we work on long-term projects, we prefer to buy new machines and not rent them. Kobelco offered the best value combination of Japanese quality, highly competitive price and after sales support,” he says.
Mark Jenkins, CEO, Al Ghandi Auto.
Mark Jenkins, CEO, Al Ghandi Auto, expects this deal to boost Kobelco’s sales in Abu Dhabi during 2018.
“This marks our first sale in the Abu Dhabi market. We’ve set up a dedicated sales team for Kobelco, and since last year we’ve been able to understand customer requirement better and support them with better product knowledge, training and after sales services,” says Jenkins.
