Ford’s latest F-150 has been named the North American Truck/Utility of the Year.
The pickup was selected by a panel of more than 50 US and Canadian judges at the 2015 North American International Auto Show.
Ford received plaudits for producing a vehicle that is simultaneously lighter and stronger than its predecessor.
“Ford is honoured to be named the best among such a strong field of competitors,” commented Joe Hinrichs, Ford president of the Americas.

“Ford employees and customers have a lot to be proud of with the innovative and award-winning F-150,” he added.
Despite being over 300 kg lighter than its predecessor, the 2015 Ford F-150 features a military-grade, aluminium-alloy body and a high-strength steel frame. Moreover, the latest pickup can tow 500kg more and haul 240kg more than the previous model.
Technological upgrades include a 360° camera to aid parking and manoeuvring and a key fob-activated remote tailgate.
The 2015 F-Series pickup is the eighth Ford vehicle to scoop the North American Truck/Utility of the Year Award, which began 22 years ago.
