The PMV Power List 2018 features profiles of prominent global and regional manufacturers, dealers, and rental companies alongside the people heading them in the Middle East.

This list is not a ranking of any kind. All companies featured in this list have provided details and updates about their products, partnerships, projects, and achievements for the period 2017-18, as well as their future market and product development plans for the Middle East region. This list is also a recognition of their brand visibility and marketing and sales success during 2017-18.


Ace Power

Boben Matthew, general manager, Ace Power

Ace Power, established in 2005 in the UAE, supplies power equipment, including generators, compressors and lighting towers, through its three business streams of sales, rental and maintenance of construction power equipment. The company has a fleet of 200 equipment including Cummins diesel generators, Abvolt load banks, Kubota lighting towers and Atlas Copco compressors. Its gensets have capacities ranging from 15kVA to 1250kVA. Ace Power introduced power on demand solutions in 2017 to capitalise on the need for power savings with synchronised generators The company reported a turnover of $4 million and growth of CAGR 25% YOY in 2017.

Ace Power aims to enhance its preventive maintenance services in 2018 year through load testing and load bank supply as well as implementation of telematics on gensets to monitor machine operation and energy usage remotely. This year, the company will open a new 30,000sqft purpose-built facility at Dubai’s Emirates Industrial City.


Al Faris Group

Al Faris Group, founded in 1992 in the UAE, is a specialist in heavy lifting, heavy transport and energy solutions. The company has a fleet of over 2100 cranes and heavy equipment, including different types of mobile and crawler cranes, hydraulic modular trailers, low bed and flat bed trailers, offroad trucks, fork lifts, Manlifts, jacking and sliding systems, earth movers, and temporary power equipment from brands such as Liebherr, Demag, Grove, Tadano, Sany, Kato, Kobelco, Fushun, Sennebogen, Scania, MAN, Goldhofer, Nooteboom, JCB, New Holland, Nissan, Mitsubishi, Hyster, Volvo and Kawasaki.

During 2017-18, Al Faris expanded its fleet with 45 cranes including 27 Liebherr mobile cranes worth $21 million. The company expanded its facility in Dubai Industrial City with a large yard, workshop, and paint and fabrication buildings. In Saudi Arabia, Al Faris expanded its fleet to over 200 equipment. With 8 offices in the GCC and over 3000 employees, Al Faris is planning on further fleet and market expansion in 2018.


Al Ghandi Auto Group

Al Ghandi Auto Group has grown to become one of largest automotive industry organisations in the Middle East region, comprising 6 divisions, offering automotive, industrial machinery and equipment, car rental & leasing services, and vehicle testing facilities. The Al Ghandi Auto Group consists of 13 companies operating within the GCC region, India and East Africa. Al Ghandi Auto is a General Motors automotive dealership selling Chevrolet and GMC vehicles in Dubai and the North Emirates. The Group is also the franchisee of Fiat SsangYong, Iveco and several other light and heavy commercial products.

Saeed Mohammed Al Ghandi & Sons (SMAG), established in 1972, is the distributor for several commercial vehicles, industrial machinery and equipment franchises in the Middle East and East Africa such as Iveco, CNH Construction, Kohler Power Systems, Kohler Marine, Kobelco construction machinery, Golden Dragon, Mazzocchia waste disposal compactors, MGR environmental control systems, and Sea Recovery and Climma.


Al Naboodah Group Enterprises

Al Naboodah Group Enterprises (ANGE) distributes automotive and construction equipment brands such as Peugeot, Haval, Maxus, Ashok Leyland, DAF, Great Wall, Clark The Forklift, Kaeser Kompressoren, VDL, Sacme, Konecranes, Sunwin, Senebogen, Hubtex and Goodyear. ANGE announced major vehicle launches in the UAE during 2017–18, such as the Ashok Leyland Oyster Bus and DAF Trucks.

ANGE also partnered with Emirates Transport to launch the first electric-powered school bus in the region that was manufactured in cooperation with the Shanghai Sunwin Bus Cooperation. In addition, the company supplied 750 school buses through partnerships with operators such as Emirates Transport, Dubai Taxi Corporation, School Transport Services and other private schools. The new buses included Ashok Leyland Falcon school buses and Sunwin school buses. Recently, ANGE finalised an agreement with the Dubai RTA to supply 94 Optare buses, the first of its kind in the Middle East.


Al Tayer Motors

Al Tayer Motors, etablished in the UAE in 1982, represents Ford Trucks, Ford, Lincoln, Maserati, Ferrari, Jaguar and Land Rover across the UAE. The dealership has a network of sales, service and parts centres across Dubai, Sharjah, Abu Dhabi, Ras Al Khaimah and Fujairah. In Abu Dhabi, Ford Trucks, Ford, Lincoln, Maserati, Ferrari, Jaguar and Land Rover are represented by Al Tayer Motors through Premier Motors. The company has 47 showrooms, service centres and bodyshops in the UAE.

During 2017-18, Al Tayer Motors reported sales growth in the construction, logistics and ready mix segments. The company introduced new leasing plans such as operating lease and lease to own. This year, the company, along with Ford Trucks, launched the new Ford 6×4 tractor head series, the 3543T, to meet the specifc requirements of the UAE market. Al Tayer Motors plans to expand workshops in Abu Dhabi and Fujairah. The company also sees growth opportunities in the waste management and raw material handling industries.


Balkrishna Industries

Rajiv Poddar, joint managing director, BKT

Balkrishna Industries Limited (BKT), based in India, manufactures and exports off-highway tyres for agricultural, construction, industrial, earthmoving, port and mining, ATV, and gardening applications. Founded in 1988, the company has developed into a global player in the off-highway tyre industry with a 6% market share and a sales volume of $850 million corresponding to a 30% increase over the last five years. BKT started exports to the Middle East in 1995. The company develops tyre sizes specifically for the Middle East’s construction and mining industries. Large customers of its industrial and OTR tyres include port operators, cement and stone quarry companies  BKT’s Mumbai-based head office continues to provide product, marketing, training, sales and after-sales support to its channel partners in the Middle East.

In 2018, BKT launched several tyres in the Middle East. They include the Earthmax SR 47, an all steel radial OTR tyre specifically designed for rigid haul trucks operating in the toughest transport applications such as rock quarrying. The Earthmax series includes the Earthmax SR 33, size 395/85 R 20, a radial tire for multipurpose trucks that ensures outstanding grip on off road surfaces (mud + sand) and the Earthmax SR 30, size 15.5 R 25, a dual-purposed radial tire for wheel loaders, motor graders and telehandlers providing traction, stability and durability in a variety of harsh operating conditions.


Blue Fin Heavy Equipment Rental

Zeeshan Arshad, managing director, Blue Fin Heavy Equipment Rental

Blue Fin Heavy Equipment Rental, a division of Blue Fin Group, specialises in rental and leasing services of heavy equipment for a wide range of sectors including offshore oil and gas, infrastructure, events, industry and construction. Established in 2015 in the UAE, Blue Fin operates in the Middle East from its office in the UAE and employs 20 staff. The company’s fleet of 550 construction equipment includes generators, light towers, air compressors, welding machines, dewatering pumps, jack hammers, bar benders, office containers and floor grinders from brands such as  Perkins, Himoinsa, Wacker Neuson, Generac, FG Wilson, and Caterpillar. All equipment supplied by the company have been third-party certified.

During 2017-18, Blue Fin made an investment of $2.9 million to expand it business.The company reported a revenue increase of 25% last year and added several Tier 1 clients to its portfolio. This year, the company expects to maintain its growth while doing a strategy review for Dubai Exop 2020.


Bu Hamdan Group

Mohammad Hatem Hamdi, CEO, Bu Hamdan Group

Bu Hamdan Group (BHG), stablished in 2007, is a division of Ghantoot Group that supplies heavy and light construction equipment brands such as Lovol wheel loaders and excavators, Maximal forklifts, Ace hydraulic breakers and Edil Lame light equipment. The company operates in the UAE with a showroom in Abu Dhabi and 30 employees.

In 2017, BHG reported growh in sales of heavy equipment, particulary wheel loaders and excavators. As a result, the company’s revenue increased by 50%. Last year, BHG also added the Edil Lame brand to its light equipment portolio and launched a 48-ton excavator, the FR480. To meet customer needs, BHG extended operation of its mobile repair workshops 24×7 in the UAE. The company also invested in staff training by organising technical courses in China, Korea and UAE. The company’s growth strategy is based on value-based products that offer an affordable combination of design, operation ability, durability, safety, manoeuvrability and fuel economy.


Caterpillar

Irma Khan, district manager, Caterpillar Middle East

Caterpillar has been present in the Middle East for over 60 years. The world’s leading manufacturer of construction and mining equipment, diesel and natural gas engines, industrial gas turbines and diesel-electric locomotives also provides financing and related services. To serve its customers in the Middle East, Caterpillar has a dedicated parts distribution facility in Jebel Ali free zone in Dubai. In 2016, it opened its $7 million regional training centre aimed at hosting training courses for its regional partners and customers.  In addition, a fluid analysis lab expedites the analysis of oil, coolant and fuel to help prevent unexpected failures and downtime.

Caterpillar continues to expand in the GCC region with the recent opening of a larger Cat Financial office and expansion of its marine propulsion power systems facility in Dubai Maritime City. During 2017-18, Caterpillar launched its next generation 20-ton-size class excavators, the 320 GC, 320 and 323, which are the first of a full range of major excavator redesigns at Caterpillar in 25 years. These models increase operator efficiency, lower fuel and maintenance costs and improve operator comfort and safety. Built from the 320 platform, the new Cat 320 GC combines a balance of productivity features with reduced fuel consumption and maintenance costs. First presented during the Big 5 trade show held in March in Dubai, they will be available in the Middle East from the second half of 2018. The company also launched the 426F2 backhoe loader. Optimised for the Middle East and offering a highly configurable design, the 426F2 backhoe loader with side shift frame provides customers with additional choices to match budget and operating needs. Customers can choose between 2- or 4-wheel drive, backhoe loader or excavator control pattern, cab climate control packages, multi-purpose or general purpose bucket and specified Product Link technology levels, among other options, to get the machine matched to their requirements.


Continental Middle East

Continental Middle East, the regional office of Continental AG established in 2015,  supplies passenger, van, truck and specialty tyres under the brand names Continental, General Tire, Barum, Matador, Mabor, Semperit and Uniroyal. Since 2011, as part of the company’s Vision 2025, Continental has already invested more than $3 billion in the construction of new production plants in China, Russia and USA. In 2016, Continental produced more than 150 million passenger car and light truck tires and achieved a significant regional balance between EMEA, The Americas and APAC in terms of production and sales.

During the last three years, Continental Middle East expanded with a different strategy for individual markets and established its presence in 19 markets in the Middle East and East Africa through strategic partnerships with 38 local companies. In 2017, the company launched the ContiPressureCheck tyre pressure monitoring system.


Construction Machinery Center

Louay Sewar, general manager, CMC

Construction Machinery Center (CMC), founded  in 1974, supplies constuction, concrete, power, agricultural and material handling equipment, representing brands such as Shwing Stetter, Wacker Neuson, Terex, Hangcha, Pramac, Chicago Pneumatic and Silla. The company has three showrooms in the UAE and 95 employees.

During 2017-18, CMC launched construction vehicle such as the Wacker Neuson EZ53 compact excavator and WL20 wheel loader, and Schwing SX43 concrete pump. Last year, the company won the top sales award for Wacker Neuson plate compactors and Schwing 55m pumps. The company organised and attended product, service, and customer training events of Schwing and Wacker Neuson in the UAE and Germany. As part of its growth strategy, CMC is focusing on Schwing Stetter truck mixers and recycling plants and Wacker Neuson compact equipment. The company plans to introduce new products for existing markets as well as enter new market segments this year.


Doosan Bobcat EMEA

Doosan Bobcat’s regional headquarters in Dubai, established in 2007, is also one of three Doosan Bobcat’s parts distribution centres worldwide and it provides product, sales and after-sales support for the region. The compact equipment division of Doosan Infracore (Doosan Group) manages the Bobcat and Doosan Portable Power businesses, supplying skid-steer loaders, compact tracked loaders, compact excavators, utility vehicles, telescopic handlers, attachments for loaders, excavators, backhoe loaders, portable air compressors, generators, lighting systems, light compaction machines, and pneumatic tools to Middle East and Africa markets. 

Doosan Bobcat EMEA expects a resurgence of business activity in Q2-2018, particularly in the UAE, Saudi Arabia, Egypt and Iraq. The company is expanding its product portfolio with backhoe loaders as well as introducing a new generation of gensets with capacities of 20-60kVA to enter new markets like telecommunications. Doosan Bobcat is also expanding its footprint in the Middle East by appointing new dealers.


Dynapac MEA

Dynapac continues to operate as an autonomous manufacturer and retain its brand name since its acquisition by Fayat Group. Having established its business in the Middle East in 1972, Dynapac supplies road construction and infrastructure machinery, including asphalt pavers, asphalt rollers, soil compactors, mobile asphalt feeders, plate compactors, rammers, and walk behind roller in the region through its regional office in Dubai and network of 11 dealers in the GCC and Egypt.

During 2017-18, Dynapac launched small tandem roller models CC1250 , CC950 , CC1200 IV , CC1300IV; city paver model SD1800C/CS; and a light compaction range. The company plans to introduce several heavy equipment and a new range of light compaction equipment in 2018, such as tampers, forward and reversible plates, walk behind and articulated utility rollers, and reinforce its  presence in the region with a larger distribution network.


Ford Trucks

Mustafa Caner Sinanoglu, managing director-Middle East, Ford Trucks

Ford Trucks was established in 2014 in the Middle East and has expanded in the region with a network of nine dealers in the GCC, Iraq and Jordan.
This year, Ford Trucks launched the 3543T 6×4 tractor head series, designed and developed by considering the specific needs and requirements of the GCC market. The development process of the 3543T series involved a $185.6 million investment in the development of Ecotorq engines and new Ford Trucks, 750 engineers working on the project for four years, two million km of test drives in eight countries across three continents, under the world’s toughest conditions.

In preparation for the new Euro 4 regulation in the UAE, Ford Trucks introduced changes such as the new 12R24 tires, an enhanced air condition system and vertical pipe. Compared to its previous generation, the new Ford Trucks series has a braking system that is seven times stronger. In addition to a 400 kW engine brake, it also offers a 600 kW intarder as an option to fleets.


GENAVCO

General Navigation and Commerce Company (GENAVCO), a flagship company of UAE-based Juma Al Majid Group, supplies road construction equipment, commercial vehicles, quarry and mining equipment, material handling  equipment, lubricants and other industrial equipment, representing brands such as John Deere, Wirtgen, Vogele, Hamm, Kleeman, Bennighoven, Isuzu, Liebherr, Shantui, Crown, Indeco, Weiro, Weber, Flexi, JLG, and BP.
Since its establishment in 1967, GENAVCO has expanded its UAE presence with four branches and 310 employees.

GENAVCO’s expansion strategy is based on offering a comprehensive yet diverse product portfolio. In 2017, the company celebrated its 50th annniversary and opened a showroom and service centre in  Abu Dhabi. In the coming years, GENAVCO expects robust demand for commercial vehicles, industrial and construction equipment driven by projected infrastructure expansion ahead of the UAE Expo 2020 and other strategic projects.


Goodyear Middle East

Goodyear was established in the Middle East in 2000 with a head office in Dubai for the MEA region. With over 100 employees in the MEA, Goodyear sees the region as part of its key geographies globally, and is designing products and service offerings to specifically meet the needs of this market. Globally, the company employs 65,000 people and manufactures its products in 48 facilities in 22 countries.

This year, Goodyear launched Kmax Extreme, a new truck tyre line specifically engineered for use in extreme conditions. The range including the Kmax S Extreme steer tire, D Extreme drive tire and T Extreme, trailer tire has specially designed tread patterns and compounds to ensure regular wear and resistance to abrasion in hot conditions, and the carcasses are designed to cope with long life cycles in such conditions. A key feature of the Kmax Extreme’s steer tyre is IntelliMax Rib technology, which improves tracking and steering on the front axle.


Gorica Group

Ivan Fornazaric, managing director, Gorica Group

Gorica Group comprises four companies in three GCC countries and employs 900 people. Established in 1990 in the UAE, Gorica Group manufactures a complete range of cargo trailers, semi-trailers, fuel/water/sewage/jetting tankers, dry bulk tankers, aluminium tankers/bulkers, transit cement mixers, municipality equipment, oil field equipment along with pressurized vessels, refrigerated semi-trailers and frigo bodies across the Middle East and Africa.
The group’s main manufacturing unit, Gorica Indusries, is based in Dubai with three production facilities, and it has a sales office in Kuwait. Another subsidiary, Gorica Vehicles & Co. is based in Oman. Gorica’s sister company and trading arm Gotrade is based in the UAE. 

In 2017, Gorica Group launched products such as Aluminium tankers, bulkers and hoppers, as well as stainless steel fresh milk transportation tankers and foam tankers. Seeking organic growth and market expansion, Gorica is working on setting up a new company in Saudi Arabia.


Gotrade

Jaka Bolcina, deputy general manager, Gotrade

Gotrade, the trading arm of Gorica Group, specializes in repair and servicing of commercial vehicle bodies and trailers and supply of spare parts. The company is the authorised dealer of Palfinger cranes in the UAE and represents other brands such as Normec, Wabco, Jost, Itas, Bpw, SAF Holland, Fuwa. Valx, Gigant, Lemmerz, Jantsa, and Aspock.

Established in 1990 in the UAE, Gotrade has expanded its presence with three offices and showrooms in Dubai and Abu Dhabi and 30 employees. During 2017-18, Gotrade launched jumbo access platforms that can reach heights up to 100m. The company also became a Wabco Tier 1 service partner. This year, Gotrade shifted its headquarters to a larger premises in Dubai that has a spare parts showroom, Palfinger experience centre, warehouse, hydraulic room, and service and maintenance area. Gotrade plans to invest more in developing the Palfinger brand in the region to become a market leader in cerain crane applications.


Haulotte Middle East

Arthur Danelian, managing director, Haulotte Middle East

Haulotte Middle East was established in the UAE in 2007. The company supplies people and material handling equipment such as telescopic boom lifts (14 to 43m), light weight booms (up to 16m), articulating rough terrain or electric (12 to 41m) booms, push around lifts rising to 14m, inside or outside scissor lifts (8 to 18m), articulated and telescopic trailers, vertical mast that can reach 10 meters high, compact telehandlers, high lift telehandlers (up to 17m) and heavy load capacity telehandlers, lifting up to 5.2 tonnes.

At Intermat 2018, Haulotte announced that the company will be changing its focus to developing primarily electric-powered lifting and material handling equipment. Recently, the company launched its ‘Pulseo’ range of electric mobile elevating platforms for indoor and outdoor applications, rough-terrain capabilities and operations suited to low-emission and low-noise zones. The first models in the Pulseo range full electric drive systems are the HA20LE and HA20LE Pro.


Hitachi Construction Machinery Middle East

Hitachi Construction Machinery Middle East Middle East Corp. (HMEC) is the regional subsidiary of Hitachi Construction Machinery Co. Japan.
Established in 2011, HMEC provides product and sales support for Hitachi heavy equipment and HSC Cranes in the MENA region through its headquarters in Dubai and 20 dealers in the region.

Since 2017, HMEC has seen increase in demand for mining and urban construction equipment. The company has relaunched the Zaxis range of wheeled excavators, the ZX 170W-5A, ZX190W-5A, ZX210W-5A models, in the Middle East, positioning them as alternatives to conventional excavators. Last year, HMEC also expanded its operations into Pakistan. To overcome market stagnation, the company is optimising its sales channels and improving services. This year, HMEC will be introducing more training programmes related to products, sales and after-sales services, focusing on total cost of ownership.


Iveco

Iveco, a brand of CNH Industrial, designs, manufactures and markets a wide range of light, medium and heavy commercial vehicles, off-road trucks, and vehicles for applications such as off-road missions. The brand’s range of products include the Daily, Eurocargo, Trakker, and Stralis. In addition, the Iveco Astra brand builds off-road trucks, rigid and articulated dumpers as well as special vehicles. Iveco offers ecological diesel and natural gas engines on its entire range of vehicles. The company has made a substantial investment in natural gas technology, developing engines with specific components and configurations optimized for use with CNG.

Iveco established its first regional office in 1950 in Egypt, and then opened its second office in the UAE. The company operates in the region through 12 dealers. In 2018, Iveco launched the Stralis X-Way, a brand new vehicle with more flexibility for on-road and off-road applications. Recently, Iveco announced a new dealer in Kuwait, Kaico.


JCB

Rajbir Sandhu, regional general manager, Middle East, JCB

JCB has 22 plants on four continents and employs more than 12,000 people worldwide. JCB  manufactures more than 300 different machines including:  backhoe loaders, loadall telescopic handlers, tracked and wheeled excavators, wheeled loading shovels, articulated dump trucks, rough terrain fork lifts, mini excavators; skid steers loaders and compaction equipment. For agricultural markets, the company produces a range of telescopic handlers and the unique Fastrac tractor.  JCB also manufactures the Teletruk forklift for the industrial sector.

JCB has also established a comprehensive generator range of 77 models. There are 19 standard build power outputs from 8-600 kVA, with bespoke builds from 860-2350 kVA.  This covers both 50 and 60Hz, single and three phase technology. These generators cover open, canopy, rental and telecommunications models. New products launched by JCB in 2017-18 include access scissor lifts, skid steer 135HD/155HD models, tracked Excavator JS305 with the same DNA as the JS205,  soil compactor 116D, all suited to the operating conditions in the Middle East.


Kaeser Kompressoren

Kaeser Kompressoren manufactures compressed air products and services such as rotary screw compressors, reciprocating compressors, road-going portable compressors, dental compressors, compressed air management systems, vacuum pumps, blowers, filters, dryers, compressed air tools and accessories, consultation and planning, compressed air demand analyses, and contracting operator models for compressed air stations. The company has branch offices and exclusive sales partners in over 100 countries and employs over 6000 people globally.

Kaeser Kompressoren has seen growth in all its Middle Eastmarkets last year. The company’s approach to product development for the region is to make compressors energy efficient, lightweight, and perform better under extreme conditions. To further optimise energy efficiency, Kaeser is incorporating advanced features in its compressor control system called ‘Sigma Control’, which matches compressor performance to the actual air demand and provides real-time feedback.


Komatsu Middle East

Komatsu Middle East, based in the UAE, is a subsidiary of Komatsu Japan, which manufactures construction, mining, industrial, forest and military equipment. Komatsu started activities in the Middle East with a liaison office in Beirut in 1975, and then moved to Dubai and established Komatsu Middle East in 1999. Currently, the company has four offices, 10 dealers and 62 employees in the Middle East.

In 2017, Komatsu’s UAE dealer Galadari Trucks and Heavy Equipment Co. organised the Komatsu Excavator Operator Contest in Abu Dhabi to consolidating the brand’s relation with machine operators and enable them to get the experience of Komatsu’s latest machine technology. The competition attracted 30 of the UAE’s top excavator operators who competed to outmanoeuver one another in their earthmovers. Komatsu Middle East is building its new premises in Dubai, which will have a regional demonstration and training centre.


Magna Tyres MEA

Magna Tyres Group, based in Netherlands, evolved from a specialist rubber compound producer to a leading tyre manufacturer in less than a decade. With 12 sales offices worldwide and presence in 130 countries. Magna Tyres Group manufactures and distributes a wide range of radial, bias and solid tyres for OTR, industrial, agricultural, port handling and truck applications. Since establishing its Middle East office in 2016, Magna Tyres Group has reported significant sales growth in the region as a result of new distributor and dealer appointments and annual contracts with end users, namely sea ports and fleet operators. The regional headquarters based in Ras Al Khaimah provides product, sales and after-sales support for the Middle East and Africa region.

In 2017, Magna Tyres Middle East & Africa signed an annual supply contract with UAE-based Al Faris Group for Magna 445/95R25 MA03 mobile crane tyres. The company also signed an annual supply contract with a customer in Saudi Arabia for the 2400R35 Magna MA04 to be used on dump trucks at a mining site. In Oman, Magna supplied the 12.00R24 Magna MSC & MSO truck tyres to a construction company for their tipper truck intended for 80% offroad usage and 20% onroad applications such as waste pit preparations and road levelling. Last year, Magna Tyres also conducted product and sales training for its UAE and Oman distributors, Easa Saleh Al Gurg Group and Hamdan Trading Group.


Manlift

Manlift Group, based in the UAE, supplies aerial work platforms (AWPs) or mobile elevating work platforms (MEWPs) for both rental and sales. The company’s fleet of over 3,000 AWPs include articulated boom lifts, crawler lifts, scissor lifts, spider lifts, telescopic boom lifts, and vertical lifts for working at heights ranging from 5m to 58m. Manlift also has a second business unit that supplies power generators.

Established in 2007, Manlift has expanded its operations across the Middle East, Africa and Asia, serving its markets through a network of depots. The company stocks original spare parts from all leading brands and delivers to the Middle East and India within 24 hours. In select markets, Manlift supplies AWPs from brands such as JLG, Genie, Skyjack and Teupen. The overwhelming majority of the company’s business is in rentals, supplemented by services like training. Manlift offers different types of training to operate AWPs and work at heights safely. In addition, the company offers courses for aluminium mobile access towers (PASMA), MEWPs for managers, demonstrator training, operator training, harness and safety training, load and unload training.


MAN Truck & Bus Middle East

Man Truck & Bus Middle East has been the regional representative of MAN Truck & Bus AG since 2006. The company operates through a network of 12 private capital dealers and importers in 14 countries in the region. The local center and importer company in the UAE provides sales and after sales support for the Middle Eastern region, which is the sixth largest after-sales market for MAN Truck & Bus AG. Currenlty, MAN has 20 workshops and 30 employees in the Middle East.

MAN is investing in digitalisation to transform itself from a commercial vehicle manufacturer to a supplier of intelligent transportation solutions. In 2018, MAN Truck & Bus AG launched a programme called ‘CustomerFirst’ to react proactively to customer needs by gathering real-time insights about customer perception, interaction and satisfaction in order to improve the service quality of MAN and its dealers. This year, the programme will be introduced in the Middle East.


Manitowoc

Manitowoc manufactures different types of cranes and owns brands such as Grove mobile cranes, Potain tower cranes, Manitowoc crawler cranes, and National boom trucks. Manitowoc’s crane brands have been available in the Middle East since the 1960s. The company established its regional headquarters in 2004 in Dubai and operates in the Middle East with 30 employees and several dealers.

Manitowoc launched several products during the last two years, such as Potain tower cranes:  Igo M14, MDT 219, MDT 369, MCT 205, MCT 385, MR 418, MR608; Grove all-terrain cranes: GMK 4100L-1, GMK 5150L, GMK 5180, GMK 5200, GMK 5250L; and Grove rough-terrain cranes: GRT 880, GRT 8100. Manitowoc’s training centre in Dubai conducts an average of 80 weeks of technical training per year through a full-time resident technical training manager as well as resources from its German, French, and US factories.


MB Crusher

MB Crusher, based in Italy, supplies crushing, demolition and recycling equipment such as crusher buckets, screening buckets, grapples and drum cutters globally through seven international subsidiaries and a network of authorised dealers. The company’s core business remains the crusher bucket for excavators, backhoe loaders and skid-steer loaders of all sizes. The company claims to have the best-selling crusher bucket, with over 90% global market share.

During 2017-18, MB Crusher launched a 300kg drum cutter, the smallest in its series, for installation on mini and midi excavators from 3 to 12 tons. Its drum can be replaced on site in one hour. without the need to take it to a specialised workshop. In Kuwait, MB Crusher’s MB-R800 drum cutter is used as primary tool and alternative to hydraulic breakers and road headers for the completion and maintenance of the existing part of the 7th Ring Road.


Mercedes-Benz Trucks

Mercedes-Benz trucks has had a presence in the Middle East and North Africa since the 1950’s. The company’s regional centre was established in Dubai in 2001, and an office dedicated exclusively to commercial vehicles was established in 2015. Mercedes-Benz Trucks offers a full range of trucks for distribution, long haulage, construction, oil and gas, waste management, extra heavy-duty or extreme off-road. They include the medium duty Accelo, Atego, and Unimog to the heavy duty Zetros, and the new Actros and Arocs. The most prominent Mercedes-Benz truck in the region is the Actros.

In March 2018, the company launched the all-new Actros and Arocs. The new Actros is made for long-distance haulage, and the Arocs is made for construction sites or away from surfaced roads. During the past two years, Mercedes-Benz celebrated the sales of more than 100,000 units in the region, closing a deal for 550 trucks in Saudi Arabia, and inauguration of a specialized global testing facility in Abu Dhabi.  This year saw the company hand over the 5,555th Zetros truck.


Mineral Circles Bearings

Founded in 1984, MCB operates throughout the Middle East, Africa, and East Asia with a subsidiary in Sweden and a head office and 10,000m2 warehouse in Dubai. MCB supplies automotive, industrial and agricultural bearings, cv joints, universal joints, greases, tools, as well as oil seals from global manufacturers. Automotive bearings supplied by MCB include truck bearings, wheel bearing kits, water pump bearings, tensioner bearings, wheel hub bearings, steering bearings, clutch release bearings, alternator ball bearings, and air conditioner ball bearings.

NFT Specialized in Tower Cranes

NFT Specialized in Tower Cranes, based in the UAE with a 35-year presence in the Middle East, supplies a specialised range of tower cranes, passenger hoists, construction equipment and construction tools. NFT is also the sole dealer for Potain Tower cranes, GJJ/Orbit, and Pega hoists in the Middle East. NFT has a presence in in Asia, Europe, Africa and Australia and employs 1500 employees  worldwide.

NFT’s fleet includes 2000 new and used tower cranes, over 500 hoists and a stock of spare parts, supplied from its yard in Abu Dhabi. The company has service offices in Dubai, Oman, Bahrain, Syria and Jordan. In Saudi Arabia, NFT has a sister company called Arabian Towers Company with its own depot of tower cranes. NFT also has other branches in the GCC and Lebanon. In 2017, NFT opened its branch office in Kuwait city and bagged the Kuwait International Airport project. This year, NFT sold the first Potain CCS tower crane in the UAE for the Masdar Institute Neighborhood project.


Putzmeister Middle East

Putzmeister manufactures machines for pumping, distributing and placing concrete, mortar and high density solids, and for preparing, temporarily storing, processing and transporting these materials. The company specialises in the handling of different materials like concrete or mortar and in the conveying of a variety of solids like sewage sludge, coal sludge or mining tailings.

Putzmeister Middle East was established in 2008 in the UAE. Currently, the company has four dealers in the GCC. This year, Putzmeister Middle East launched a 47m truck-mounted concrete pump with the Ergonic 2 radio remote control. Putzmeister supplies its truck-mounted concrete pumps with with a ‘Middle East Kit’ of additional features for increased performance and safe operation of the machines in the region’s high ambitent temperatures. Currently, one of Putzmeister’s major projects in the region is the Riyadh Metro in Saudi Arabia, which employs almost its entire concrete equipment range.


Raimondi Cranes

Raimondi Cranes, founded in 1863 in Italy, is a manufacturer of topless tower and luffing jib cranes. In 2014, Raimondi officially opened offices in the GCC. Raimondi’s Dubai office acts as the commercial MENA region base, and the company has four other offices in the GCC. Raimondi operates on a client direct model in the Middle East, and through official agents in some North African markets.

Raimondi Cranes is about to launch its newest model, the luffing hydraulic LRH174, which is the first hydraulic luffer ever produced by the company. It will be the company’s third new launch in less than 12 months, following the launches of the MRT234 topless tower cranes and the LR330 luffing jib crane. Other recent lanches include the MRT159 and the LR213. Raimondi Cranes has taken five new crane models to market in under two years.
In addition to cranes, Raimondi is striving to set the benchmark in heavy lifting machinery accessories. At Intermat 2018 in Paris, Raimondi presented the SL20-TC crane elevator, designed in compliance with Standard EN81-43, and the deluxe R16 crane cabin.


Rental Solutions and Services

Stewart Murray, managing director, Rental Solutions and Services

Rental Solutions & Services (RSS), f ounded in the UAE in 2007, provides temporary power and temperature control solutions ranging from the rental of small portable generators to integrated engineered solutions for large projects. The RSS fleet of power and cooling equipment is manufactured to full rental specification (RS) with acoustically sound- proofed canopies and containers as standard. It includes generators with capacities of 30–1250 kVA, sourced from Cummins and JCB. The company also designs, installs and operates temperature control solutions with a fleet of chillers and HVAC equipment that include air handlers, pumps, valves and standalone air conditioning systems.

During 2017–18, RSS bolstered its fleet with a multi-million-dollar investment in a new RS range of JCB generators manufactured in the UK. The company also achieved the international quality accreditation, ISO 9001:2015.


SSAB

B. Ozgur Yalcin, area sales manager, SSAB

SSAB is a specialised global steel company that manufactures advanced high-strength steels and quenched & tempered steels (Q&T), strip, plate and tubular products. SSAB has been serving the Middle East transportation and raw material handling industries since the beginning of the 2000s directly from its production facilites and through distributor companies. The company set up its office in the UAE in 2008 and currently operates an office and stock area in Sharjah. SSAB also has distributors in Saudi Arabia and Lebanon, and a network of Hardox Wearparts wear service centres in the GCC, Lebanon and Jordan.

Recently, SSAB introduced the Hardox 500 grade for heavy-duty tipper bodies and buckets. The new grade  can further reduce the weight and also increase the payload and life time of the vehicle bodies. In the raw material handling segment, SSAB offers Hardox wear-resistant steel of 400HB to 600HB and thickness of 0,7 mm to 160 mm.


Terex Cranes

Terex Cranes combines two brands: Demag mobile cranes, which include all-terrain cranes, crawler cranes and city cranes, and Terex cranes, which include tower cranes, rough terrain cranes, pick and carry cranes, truck cranes, and boom trucks. Terex Cranes is part of Terex Corporation, a global manufacturer of lifting and material processing products and services. Other major Terex brands include, Genie and Powerscreen.

Terex Cranes operates in the Middle East region with a sales and service offices in the UAE and Saudi Arabia and 20 employees. During 2017-18, Terex Cranes launched the Terex RT 90 rough terrain crane , Demag AC 300-6 all terrain crane, and Demag AC 45 city crane. During this period, the company sold Demag CC 3800-1 crawler cranes to Al Faris Group in the UAE, Al Areedh Co. in Saudi Arabia and ILC in Kuwait. The Demag AC 300-6 found buyers such as ILC and ACT in Saudi Arabia. Terex is working on creating awareness about crane safety standards in the region.


Terex Equipment Middle East and Terex AWP

Terex Equipment Middle East, based in Dubai, has been present in the region since 2006. Genie aerial work platforms is a part of Terex Equipment Middle East, specialising in manufacturing small portable material lifts, telehandlers, scissor lifts, telescopic and articulating booms.

Genie operates in the region through a network of 14 dealers in the GCC, Lebanon, Jordan, Iraq and Egypt. The company’s regional office in UAE supports the Middle East, Southern Africa, Russia and CIS regions in sales, service and marketing. During 2017-18, Terex Middle East appointed M.H. Al Mahroos Trading Est. as the first distributor and fully authorised service provider for Genie products in the UAE. In the same period, the company’s sales achievements include 334 boom lifts and scissor lifts to Rapid Access and 37 self-propelled telescopic boom lifts and 10 XC boom lifts to Expertise Contracting and Bin Quraya Rental in Saudi Arabia.


UD Trucks

UD Trucks has been present in the Middle East for over 35 years, since the time the company was called Nissan Diesel. UD Trucks became part of the Volvo Group in 2007. UD Trucks manufactures light, medium and heavy-duty trucks as well as special vehicles.

In 2017, UD Trucks launched the Croner, a newly created medium-duty truck platform for emerging markets. The company reported sales growth across the Middle East in 2017. In Saudi Arabia, sales increased by more than 50% compared to the previous year. In the heavy-duty sector, UD Trucks penetrated the market with the new Quester truck.In Bahrain, the company’s 2017 sales doubled compared to 2016. In 2018, UD Trucks unveiled new heavy-duty, on- and off-road  truck models in its Quester range for construction, distribution and long-haul transportation,  entering a new phase of development in which the company is designing, sourcing, manufacturing and pricing trucks specifically for customers in the Middle East.


Volvo Trucks

Volvo Trucks started operations in the Middle East in the 1960’s, and the Volvo Group Middle East regional offices were opened in 2006 in Dubai. The offices include a regional parts distribution centre and a regional competence development centre to train dealers in optimal machine usage and productivity through the use of Volvo’s Dynafleet system, site simulations, Volvo simulators and other tools.

The UAE, Saudi Arabia, Egypt, Oman and Iraq are amongst key countries for Volvo Trucks; the long-haul range Volvo FH and construction range Volvo FMX are the most lucrative segments in the region. The Volvo FH accounts for approximately 70% of the company’s sales. In 2018, Volvo Trucks saw increase in sales of its  construction range as well as services and parts. The company’s target is to have I-shift gearboxes in 100% of trucks sold in 2018. The new version of I-Shift makes it possible to add up to two new crawler gears. This year, Volvo has enhanced its driver support systems, such as dynamic steering, and safety features in its trucks.
