Digi Robotics is showcasing an impressive array of automatons at the Big 5 2014.
The company already boasts a selection of high-profile end users, including Dubai World Trade Centre – the venue currently playing host to the Big 5 itself.
The Dubai-based firm takes “naked” robots from German manufacturer Kuka, and tailors them to suit the requirements of the Middle East’s manufacturing and design sectors.
“We start with the Kuka robots,” Digi Robotics’ business development manager, Gautam Ahuja, told PMV.
“You could say that we get them naked. Then we fit and customise as per the client’s requirements. Some of the accessories that come along, which we procure separately, we source from the UK. We have a supplier in London. All other activities, such as software programming and installation, is performed right here in the Middle East.
“Our range allows us to cater to industries such as automotive, manufacturing, aluminium cladding, signage, and many more,” he added.
Digi Robotics’ stand features a selection of automatons operating in real time, with applications from cutting to processing.
In addition to industrial applications, Digi Robotics’ business development manager, Gautam Ahuja, is keen to showcase the company’s educational automaton – a multipurpose machine that can be used to teach future generations of roboticists.
“Two of our machines have been designed for educational purposes,” said Gautam.
“We’re encouraging schools and the UAE’s Ministry of Higher Education and Scientific Research to get students to understand robots. At the end of the day, this is the technology of the future.
“Kids can understand this technology. Today’s children are far smarter than we were; today’s children have to help their parents to update apps on their mobile phones. Young people are quick to grasp these concepts.
“Our educational robots can do everything. They can cut and engrave, but to a very small extent. They are basically there to show youngsters what can be done with these machines,” he concluded.
