Intertruck is one of a number of exhibitors set to sign deals at Automechanika Dubai 2014, according to senior show manager Mahmut Gazi Bilikozen.
The parts supplier will finalise an agreement to run the full spectrum of operations at the warehouse of an as-yet-unnamed GCC company. The news is the result of the Automechanika Dubai team’s strategy to encourage exhibitors planning to do business at the event to publicise their plans.
“This year, for the first time, we have news of contract signings prior to the show,” revealed Bilikozen.
“Intertruck, for example, is to enter into an agreement with one of its existing clients, not only to supply parts but also to conduct inventory management within the company’s warehouse. In addition to managing the firm’s supply chain, Intertruck will oversee its logistics operations,” he added.
Indeed, Bilikozen contends that one of Automechanika Dubai’s great strengths is its ability to bring interested stakeholders together. As he explained to PMV, this is not just an opportunity for companies to showcase products; it is a chance for them to do real business.
“We get visitors from across the world,” he said.
“Two years ago, I met a gentleman from Hertz Chile, for example, and I asked him why he had travelled all the way to Dubai, other than for a vacation at a nice destination. He told me that at our show, he is able to gain access to manufacturers that he cannot meet in other countries.
“Obviously, there are large, well-known manufacturers that are present in every territory. However, smaller manufacturers from places such as India, Turkey, Jordan, etc. are not present in every market. What’s more, the quality and price of their products are usually very good,” commented Bilikozen.
In terms of the diversity of nationalities represented at Automechanika shows, Dubai is second only to the Frankfurt iteration. Bilikozen also expects this year’s event to attract a greater number of visitors than its predecessor.
“More than 1,650 companies will be exhibiting at Automechanika Dubai 2014,” he said.
“We will have over 200 domestic exhibitors, but around 90% of all the exhibitors will be international. Last year, we had 24,141 trade visitors from 130 countries, so I’m confident that we’ll pass the 25,000 mark this year. It’s always difficult to predict in advance, but there’s usually a positive correlation between the number of exhibitors and the number of visitors,” Bilikozen added.
The show’s expansion is in keeping with the GCC market for auto parts, batteries, and tyres, which is expected to grow at 14.9% over the next three years, reaching $13.46bn by 2017.
Automechanika Dubai 2014 is being organised by EPOC Messe Frankfurt, and will take place from 3-5 June at Dubai World Trade Centre. Full details of Intertruck’s latest GCC deal will be revealed on the first day of the event.
