Rotair, the Italy-based manufacturer of portable screw compressors, has developed a product specifically for fleet owners that operate service vehicles with limited space on-board. The Gommair 10 can be mounted on service vehicles for general maintenance activities using nutrunners, tyre inflation and greasing kits. Weighing a little over 250kg and with a relatively small footprint, the Gommair 10 comes with a skid mount for loading onto service vehicles, enabling end-users to utilize additional space and tonnage of the service vehicle for other tools.

Powered by an on-board, water-cooled Kubota diesel engine, the Gommair 10 does not require external power. An integrated air-end, patented and manufactured by Rotair, provides three different free air delivery and operating pressures to suit customer needs. Furthermore, a new air-oil filtering system has been incorporated in the tank of the integrated screw system to improve the quality of the compressed air output.

Ramasamy elaborates on the advantages of the Gommair 10 over piston compressors.
“Screw compressors are more efficient as compared to piston compressors, which consume more power at full load. The Gommair 10 can run 24/7 on full load. Screw compressors provide continuous air at a rated pressure. In contrast, piston compressors provide compressed air intermittently, and hence they require external air receivers. However, external air receivers are bulky and consume lot of space and tonnage of service vehicles. Screw compressors generate less noise and vibration due to superior technology. They have relatively less wear and tear and hence a longer life. Furthermore, Rotair offers two-year warranty, which is more than double that of piston compressors, which are generally supplied with warranties of six months to a year,” he adds.
