Sany Heavy Industry has sent a 62m concrete pump to support the water spraying operation at the Fukushima nuclear plant.
The company answered a call from the president of the Tokyo Electric Power Company (TEP), the company which runs the plant, to send a Sany SY5502THB truck mounted concrete pump to aid the effort to ring the reactor back under control. The pump was due to arrive in Fukushima on Wednesday.
According to Yang Zhi hua, the vice general manager of Sany Overseas, “The 62m concrete pump will mainly be used in the water spraying operation for the No.4 reactor. The reactor is 46m high and the concrete pump has to keep a 14m distance from it. Sany’s 62m truck mounted concrete pump is just the one that meet such requirement.”
Sany revealed that in TEP president Masataka Shimizu letter to Sany sent on 19 March, he wrote, “As we experienced a very severe earth quake and a huge tsunami on March 11th, 2011, we now has serious situation to cope with in our nuclear power plant. We certainly appreciate your kindest offer to send your product [the] truck mounted concrete pump SY5502THB 62B to Japan free of charge. We would like to accept this offer and would like to use the truck mounted concrete pump SY5502THB in Fukushima Daiichi Nuclear Power Station. Thank you again and we anxiously wait for the pump to arrive.”
