Halul Offshore Services has taken delivery of an offshore support vessel (OSV) ship-handling simulator.
The Netherlands-manufactured system, which is the first of its kind in Qatar, will be used for training purposes at the Milaha-owned subsidiary.
The tool is able to simulate a range of ship-handling scenarios, including towing, rig moves, berthing, unberthing, and offshore tanker-assist operations.
Commenting on the system’s procurement, Abdulrahman Essa Al-Mannai, president and CEO of Milaha, said: “The use of such modern equipment affirms our longstanding commitment to provide the highest level of training to our staff. This simulator supports the development of our operational capabilities, and will allow Halul to continue to provide innovative solutions to our partners and clients in Qatar and beyond, particularly in today’s challenging market.”
Vivek Seth, CEO of Halul, added: “This simulator will significantly add to our crew’s ship-handling skills, and help them to become better prepared for their next assignment on board our fleet of over 40 vessels.
“The simulator has an option to programme for both azimuth and conventional driven vessels. We also have a dynamic positioning system integrated with the simulator,” he concluded.
