German building materials supplier Masa will be looking to make up for lost time at this year’s Big 5 after Bauma Munich was heavily affected by the volcanic ash cloud that disrupted travel across Europe earlier this year.

“We expect a lot of people to come to the event this year and visit us in Dubai. Many producers couldn’t reach Bauma due to the ash scenario. And besides Big 5 is the leading exhibition for the region and attracts people from Africa and Asia,” Oliver Grimm, managing director, Masa-Middle East UAE explained.

Masa, which is exhibiting in Zabeel Hall H 131, has been producing block making machines, mixing and dosing plants, and materials handling systems for over a century.

According to Grimm, Masa’s longevity means the company has experience in making machines for the precast industry that is difficult to replicate: “It took us more than half a century to prove to the world that MASA machines are rigid, robust and reliable to produce quality products for generations.”

Grimm enthuses: “Our experience is our strength. Over the 105 years, we’ve learned and polished our operation, and constantly elevated industry benchmarks and standards to become the best in the industry.”

He says that the company remains relentless in its pursuit of improving the productivity, quality and consistency of its machines and precast products.

“MASA has always taken the lead in adopting new technologies and supplied the most reliable plants to the industry,” says Grimm. “German engineering with the latest process technology enabled us to become the market leader and makers of the best machines available for mass production of blocks, pavers, kerbstones, tiles and Autoclave Aerated Concrete (AAC) products. The result: Masa machines are made to last for generations.”

Masa has had a foothold in the Middle East for over 30 years and currently has 200 plants baring its name in the region.

While Masa-Middle East’s Jebel Ali, Dubai, base provides sales support it is also the company’s regional centre for local service and assembly, as well as being the home to its own spares store.

This year Masa-Middle East helped one of its customers, Pasco in Al Ain add a ninth plant. Consequently the manufacturer of precast concrete products such as kerbstones and paving slabs has been able to expand its operation.

Grimm says that even in the economic downturn, its partnership with Pasco is not a sole success story. “Many other companies in the Middle East or worldwide could also be listed.”
