Magna Tyres projects strong growth in sales in 2019 building on the momentum from a successful 2018 and an increase in number of inquiries in Q12019. The growth can be attributed to Magna Tyres’ launch of high-performance tyres in several categories and after sales service.
Vijay Nambiar, general manager-Middle East & Africa, Magna Tyres, says: “Our target is to make Magna the most desirable tyre brand in all segments, and one of the ways to achieve that is through the launch of new improved products that increase tyre performance. We project an increase in Middle East sales this year because of the market acceptance of Magna Tyres’ superior quality and performance. Our industrial tyres are the best performing category in the GCC. The current products with redefined patterns and long-lasting treads will drive sales in this segment this year.”
Recently, Kuwait-based Jassim Transport & Stevedoring Co. (JTC) recognized Magna Tyres as a valued tyre supplier at its first supplier meeting ‘BEAMS 2019’. JTC has also started using Magna tyres for their industrial equipment, trucks and other vehicles.
“JTC has opted for Magna tyres because we offer a full range of tyres for all their equipment. We have tested our tyres on JTC’s heavy rental equipment, and they are fully satisfied with the performance. In addition, JTC benefits from direct purchase of tyres from Magna without having to deal with middlemen, thus reducing the cost per km of their vehicles,” says Nambiar.
Magna has announced the launch of new industrial tyre sizes and a completely new product range with 36 new tyre sizes at the bauma 2019 expo. In the Middle East, the company in focusing on two products in particular: the Magna M-Rigid for rigid dump trucks and Magna MA03+ for mobile cranes.
The new Magna M-Rigid – the radial constructed 27.00R49 / 33.00R51 / 40.00R57 earthmover with an E4 tread pattern – is designed for rigid dump trucks (RDTs) that operate in demanding off-road conditions.
The Magna M-Rigid has massive rigid lug blocks that offer the traction and durability required in the most severe surface mines. The tread pattern design has four major innovations: (1) weight reducing cut outs on the tread blocks and lugs, to reduce heat build-up and improve tyre life; (2) circumferential groove in the tread pattern to improve steering control for enhanced heavy-load cornering performance and improved heat dissipation; (3) interlocking shoulder blocks to reduce excessive movement during cornering, to reduce heat build-up, and to enhance operator comfort and tyre life; and (4) optimized contact patch ensures even wear and improves tread life.
“The launch of M-Rigid is a big advantage for customers that expect less wear and tear and high performance. The M-Rigid is suitable for modern RDT’s such as Caterpillar, Komatsu, Terex and Hitachi, and will be available from May 2019,” says Nambiar.
The Magna MA03+ is designed for mobile cranes on highway and off-road applications. An improved irregular wear pattern reduces rolling resistance and fuel consumption and also provides greater operator comfort. The tread design offers traction in severe off-road conditions. The all steel radial construction and improved protector plies optimize load performance. Additionally, a special crane compound offers longer tyre life and shorter breaking distance.
The MA03+ is available in sizes 445/95R25 MA03+, 385/95R25 MA03+, and 525/80R25 MA03+.
“We’ve received a lot of interest for the Magna MA03+, and we expect to sign several long-term and annual supply contract deals with crane customers in the Middle East,” says Nambiar.
Magna Tyres recently started production in Thailand, and OTR sizes like 17.5, 20.5, 23.5, 26.5, and 29.5 are now being exported from the country.
