Hino launches 500 series FD medium truck model in the Middle East

Hino Motors has introduced the FD model of its Hino 500 Series medium truck range to the Middle East. The upgraded vehicle incorporates a more powerful engine, together with improved safety features and significant cabin refinements for a more comfortable ride.

The Hino 500 series has a gross vehicle weight (GVW) of 10.4T and incorporates safety features such as a collapsible steering wheel, SRS airbags and anti-lock braking system (ABS). Its anti-collision steel beam construction provides protection for occupants, while downward visibility ensures visual recognition of a small child from a distance of 1.6 meters.

Several design tweaks have been implemented to provide easy access to the cabin, including larger door handles, assist grips, and steps, together with a redesigned central passenger seat that offers increased legroom. The adjustable steering wheel enables drivers of all heights to enjoy a clear view of the road ahead and their surroundings. The eight-way adjustable driver seat has been completely redesigned to offer maximum comfort and visibility, and comes with optional air suspension. Customers can also choose to benefit from the convenience of optional power windows.

Available across all variants of the 2020 Hino 500 Series, the turbo-charged J08E engine’s maximum power has been increased from 220PS to 245PS at 2,500rpm when compared to the former model. Engine torque has also been improved from 667Nm to 726Nm at 1,500rpm. While the Middle East model is Euro 3 compliant, the UAE model meets Euro 4 emission standards.

Yoshikazu Kayano, managing director, Hino Motors Middle East, said: “We are delighted to launch the new Hino 500 Series FD in the Middle East market, which delivers significant improvements in comfort and safety. These include the new emergency guard impact safety cab, ABS, and airbags. This is backed by our ‘total support’ philosophy, which places the needs of customers at the heart of after-sales care and develops relationships built on trust and client satisfaction. As part of the Toyota Group, we are expanding on a proud legacy to bring a superior product to the market, and look forward to further developing the reputation of the Hino brand throughout the region.”
